Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

My FRAM from Amazon will be here tomorrow. I noticed when looking at the description for the Mopar brand that Mopar recommends changing them out every six months.
I live on a dirt road so I'll go the six months route and see how they look.

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

Just changed mine out with the Fram charcoal/A&H filter today from Amazon. I bought this 2014 jgc with 20,000 miles on it and it probably was never changed. Had a musty smell with the defrost on, and it now seems to be instantly fresher

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

You're right about no mention of charcoal. What gives it away is the Mopar part number. 68260792AA is the part number for the diesel. It's different from the gas engine filter. Here's the tsb that explains it: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2400115.pdf. Same size filter, but works much better, and lasts longer than the plain filter.

You can check ebay for them also, i think i paid $23 shipped last time for the OEM charcoal one. Not as fast as amazon but amazon prices can swing wildly sometimes. I love amazon prime but just got watch there prices sometimes.

Got two for $55.98 including shipping here: FILTER-CABIN AIR | Genuine Mopar | 68260792AA
It's actually a Chrysler dealership in North Carolina that does a brisk business in online parts sales. Transaction was smooth, and delivery was fast.

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

Thanks for the explanation on the part number and link to the good price. I got an ATP Charcoal Filter for my last WK2 that I traded in to the dealer 6 months ago.

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

I wish my confidence level was higher in attempting to do this. I'm afraid of breaking some little plastic tab off or something. And none of the videos that I've seen are very good at showing how to do this. I know it's one of those things that after you do it once, you'll know how. It's just the "doing it once" part I have to get past without screwing something up!

The FRAM video on the Amazon website is very detailed, and very straight forward. If your able to put a stamp on a envelope, you can change your own cabin air filter.
