Now for the problem..... the damper cord on the glove box retracted back in to the housing behind the glove box as it slipped out of my hands, is there any good or easy way to retrieve it please.. HELP !
Google "IBM Spring Hook"

Local places may have them in your area, or you can mail order same.

There are a few that are long enough and are spring loaded with a small hook on the end that you can attach very early in the process to avoid the problem, or you can use the notch end on a standard Selectric spring hook to thread a piece of string thru the damper cord.

May have to have the dealer do on the next visit... Won't unhook it again next time !!
Get a good flashlight, a pair of small pliers, and a wire coat hanger and make a hook.

Don't recall how much additional I had to remove to get at it first time I changed a filter.

The carbon one fits nicely [I use them] and claims to do a slightly better job of removing odors from the air. Plus, Amazon and a few others seem to always have stock of them.

Us westerners got skunks. Not that a cabin air filter is much protection.

However, us westerners also love chili. 'nuff said.

So I just received the Fram carbon cabin air filter. Looking at it, one side is dark which obviously is the carbon side. The instructions mention nothing about which way it should install, facing up or down. Anyone know? I was planning on installing it tonight. Thanks in advance.

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

EASIEST: Best videos on Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) cabin air filter replacing.

HARDER: No need to actually unhook the glove box or disconnect the retractable side cord so avoids the problem of the retractable side cord disappearing inside like how this tech did it.

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

Replaced my cabin air filter today with "Fresh Breeze" one bought from Amazon for $22 or so. It seems to fit perfectly...very easy to do. Took out the OEM filter - with 16k miles - and it was pretty dirty.

Now, there's a slight whistle coming from my vents with the AC on full tilt (it's summer in AZ). Whistle disappears with recirc on so I'm think it's something with the new cabin air filter. Ideas?
