I'm fairly well convinced one encounter with mephitus mephitica effluent will pollute even the Amazon carbon filter. Besides, two costs the same shipping as one... to keep a spare on hand for the inevitable Colorado encounters with wildlife.

Amazon - TYC 800161P
Listed for the Durango, but we all know parts are interchangeable between the two vehicles.

Just picked one up for $11.40 and one for the wife's RAV4.

This will be the third one I've bought and never a problem with them.

I change the filter annually, usually after the leaves drop.

Charcoal is not a gimmick. I have gone though quite a few regular and charcoal filters on different vehicles. Without fail, the regular filters always ended up smelling terrible from mildew (I live in a humid area) whereas the charcoal filters never developed a smell, even when I went entirely too long without changing.

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

I got the ATP carbon cabin filter from Amazon and changed mine tonight. I was shocked at how dirty the original one was after only 17,500 miles in a garage kept Jeep. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1445567099.769693.jpg

Re: Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

It's not surprising these things get so dirty when you figure how many hours they run, as opposed to miles. Also, the fan is always running in the "1" position. It's never "Off". And it's a pretty small filter.

If you figure your vehicle averages 40 MPH, (and that's not very realistic except for people who live in very rural areas), and you drive 20,000 miles. That's 500 hours of operation. Or around 3 weeks.

Another thing is cars operate in a far more dusty environment, than say the furnace filter in your home. I know in the dead of Summer here in Phoenix, when my A/C is running almost constantly, I have to change my A/C-Furnace filter after about a month. And it's dirty when I do. I spray it with Endust before I install it. That really helps it catch a lot more dirt. And it's 20" X 30" X 1" thick.

Replace Cabin Air Filter --- Just Do It!!!

Just did mine at 7,500 (about 1 year in). I could have probably went another 7k before it started to look really dirty, but $30 once a year isn't going to break the bank. Least I know I'll have somewhat decently filtered air while driving around.
