Re: Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

I sat in an Overland with black leather and silver aluminum trim. It looked terrific, but I didn't want all of the features and expense of the Overland and decided I wanted a Limited. My dealer located the Black/Black with the equipment I wanted and had it right away. I committed to it without seeing the actual vehicle. While I do like a lot about the vehicle I cannot get over the copper/goldish hue interior trim. It is not good. I think it looks cheap, and wasn't a necessary change. It does not match with black leather, and virtually everyone who has sat in the car in the last week looks puzzled. 'Why do you think they went with this color scheme against black leather'. I have no idea. Especially since there is still chrome trim in the interior. Chrome/copper? I really want to get it swapped out. I bought the car sight unseen and didn't know that copper would have been part of the black/black trim. I called Jeep to see what I need to do to get this swapped out. Does anyone know? Is there an aftermarket trim kit available?

Re: Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

I wanted a black interior but did not like all that copper trim at all. Ended up going with a limited with the beige leather, silverish trim, and really like the contrast of the wood. The black interior, I think hides the wood trim, just can' t stand that copper look.

I don't think it comes in a kit. It is piece by piece. Just so you know. I have the silver trim and managed to scratch up my center bezel. Just the flat piece where the shifter is. Cost me $418 for that one plastic piece.

Wow $$$

I accidentally dripped hand sanitizer on my center piece ... Ended up burning a hole in the paint. Would like to replace but damn that pricey.

Re: Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

Im really disappointed with the Copper trim on the black interior on the overland. I want a Billet exterior with black interior. Copper has no place in that color scheme at all.

Jeep should have more neutral colors - or the option to change it out, wife doesn't like the Indigo/Vesuvio color that you need in order to get silver trim and I am not a big fan of the exterior upgrades on the Summit (black interior on Summit gets Silver trim - go figure)

If anyone has any idea of a change coming out I would love to hear about it. Otherwise we may be getting a Pilot or something else

You guys are nuts.. I love the copper trim on my black interior. I've had my jeep for 4 months now and I think the color is great.

I agree.
I have a 2014 Billet Silver Laredo with black interior. The first thing I thought when I looked at the interior for the first time at the dealer was...."why the hell did they put copper trim instead of silver" Doesn't really matter to the wife and since its her daily driver we just went with it.
But everytime I get in it I can't help but think how much better the silver trim would have made the ext. and int. cololrs blend together.
Like you said.."Copper has no place in that color scheme at all".
Just gotta learn to live with it until a cheap silver kit to cover it comes out I guess.

Re: Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

I totally understand you liking it - to each his own, but its just a weird color to put in there, if it was a white jeep or even black maybe it would be OK. But you can see the vent from outside the car and it looks like someone made a tacky aftermarket upgrade against a silver exterior (and all other exteriors in my opinion)

And the frustrating thing is that they make the silver - just not on black in the Overland.

50K is a lot of money to spend on a vehicle to hate something like that - make it look right and I will buy one, its simple as that. I just hope they come to their senses before we buy something else.

Its a real shame because I really like it outside of that!!

Re: Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

I agree completely. And walnut wood? It looks nice, but I just want black and silver, like the Summit interior but without that new open-pore wood. I wish they'd make a special edition based of of the Overland but with a sporty interior with piano black aluminum applique (instead of wood) and silver trim pieces, and an all leather wheel with the SRT styling, that would be perfect, oh and less chrome on the exterior and gloss black exterior paint option. Oh well, happy with my 2012 after I dechromed most of it.

Re: Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

I am glad to see this thread. I ordered a Summit was black interior but was nervous because I have not seen one with black interior after looking at several dealerships. I wonder why that is.
