I am starting my build thread on how to replace the teal ambient lights with RGB leds that you can control.

Item list with links:

RGB leds
https://www.oznium.com/prewired-surface-mount-led

**Do not purchase the pre-wired rgb leds from superbrightleds, they come pre programmed to just fade through the colors. I learned that the hard way after ordering them

RGB connectors
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0140KO7K4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I still need to add these in and solder everything together, these will help with the door leds and cupholder ones in case you need to take them out or for repairs

LED controller
https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...olor-changing-modes-5-amps-channel/3050/6263/

**A RF remote will allow you to change the color while hiding the controller since it does not need line of sight

RGB wire
https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/power-wires/rgb-4wire-four-conductor-rgb-wire/45/288/

this comes in hand wiring from the doors to the controller

side note : the leds come with just red and black wiring, so if you want to save some hassle trying to figure out which wires to connect you can get extra RGB wire and rewire the leds all the same since the wire has black, red, gree, and blue.

I will work on getting pictures and typing up more on how i wired and where i located the leds and the wiring.

I am still working on finishing it, I have it about 75% complete. I still need to complete the driver door, add in the 4 pin connectors, solder everything, and heat shrink everything.

I am also working on getting pictures of where the leds are located and how i ran the wires.

Here is a video i took when i got the cupholders and the passenger side done, till i can get the time to get everything else done.

****If you have any questions about this please let me know in this thread, and i will do my best to answer them.

So i was able to get everything wired up yesterday, still need to go back through and solder and shrink wrap everything. I did take pictures to show where i placed the leds and kinda how i routed the wiring. I still need to get a picture of the cupholders and how i placed the leds in there.

So ill start with wiring up the leds for the seats. From the pictures you can see where i was able to place them. The back of the seats its easier to find a place since there is a bar across the bottom of the seat.

Once those were attached i routed the wire up into the center console where i have the controller.

To wire up the controller i had to tap into the 12v outlet in the center console cubby. The one in the armrest does not shut off with the vehicle so the lights would always be on. And the voltage for the OEM lighting was only 2V if i remember, which is not enough to run the controller.

The third picture shows the contoller location. I have it just tucked behind the cubby in the center console. It is very easy to get to since the side panels just pop off.

The doors are bit more of a pain as they require running the wire through the door.

I removed the leds and harness completely from the passenger side door, but my driver door had the memory seat switch wires harnessed with the leds lights. So i just cut the leds out.

They are pretty simple to remove, as they are only held in by clips. Once they were removed I was able to place the new leds in.

The top one that illuminates the door handle i stuck to the top of the inside of the door panel just above the opening.

The one for the lower portion of the door i used one of the plastic prongs to stick the led to. So far so good with it holding onto that.

Now for the tough part of getting the wiring from the door to the controller.
After doing the passenger door it made the driver door a bit easier.
The area where the wires all pass through the rubber conduit into the vehicle, there are two t20 screws holding it to the door. Then body side just pops out and there are two plugs in there. Disconnect those then you can run the wire through the rubber conduit.

The body side plastic connector has holes in it, i used one of those to get the wire into the body of the vehicle. To get the wire to the center console you have to drop the wire down the inside of the vehicle where the connectors are.
You will need to remove the kick panel which just pulls out after removing the jeep step plate. Behind there is a hole that you can pull the wire through, it took me a bit on the passenger side since it was a learning process. But the driver side only took a couple minutes.
Once the wire was into the vehicle i ran it up above the carpet panels above the foot wells to the center console.

The doors were a bit of a pain, hopefully my knowledge will make things a ton easier for you.

You will need to remove the door panel.
Once the door panel is off, it is fairly easy to locate the led modules. They are only held in my clips and pull off easy. the passenger side i was able to take them out with the harness and everything. The driver side had the memory seat switch in the harness so i just cut the wires for the modules.

For the top led for the door handle i placed the led on the inside of the door panel just above the opening.
The lower led i used one of the tabs that held the module in. That was wide enough to stick the led to.

Routing the wiring through the door is the hard part. Youll need a T20 bit to unscrew 2 screws holding the rubber conduit between the door and the body. Once you undo those screws youll need a plastic pry tool to pull the plastic clip out of the body, and then undo the connectors in there.

The body side connector has holes in it. I used that to get the wires from the door to the body. Once you have the wiring through the conduit the next tough part is getting it through the body opening to the controller. The easiest way i found was to drop the wire down through the opening behind the kick panel there is a hole to pull the wire through. With the kick panel removed i was able to pull the wire through there then route it above the carpet panel above the footwells to the controller in the center console.
