Should be getting installed on the 22nd. They said the run the wiring to the back of the rack and enter the roof via the antenna then under/above headliner to the front for switches/power. They also said they have several switch/mounting options. I looking for switches to be located either opposite the sunroof controls in the overhead console or inside the sunglasses compartment. I'll post pics after the install.

Re: Roof Basket

BigCat,

Photos of how they get the wiring inside would be really great. That is the one big question I have. I will be doing my own install and have ideas on the switching, but I do not even have my GC yet. Soon, real soon now. Your opinions after the install will be interesting. I have a friend in the body shop business and if I get one I may have him paint it to match.
Mine will be a 2014, but should not be much difference.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: Roof Basket

Not the swiftest here so help me out on the RRO.

For the WK2 I would need to buy their steel rails.
Then I would need to buy their cross bars.
Is this correct?

How noisy are their round bars compared to the aero styles from mopar, thule, and yakima?

I used to have a Load Warrior on my Murano and found that it reduced my fuel mileage by about 3 mpg when it was on the roof (mounted on the cross rails) with nothing in it. Since the Gobi is lower profile, I was wondering how it affects fuel mileage?

Re: Roof Basket

As I mentioned in the other thread it may affect MPG by about 1.5 or 2 but I've got a V8 and don't pay much attention to MPGs

Re: Roof Basket

For those considering the Yakima Load Warrior, I just wanted to share that I thought it not only looks better but fits better with the optional Load Warrior "Extender". With the Extender, the unit is longer and this allows you to place both cross-bars at the furthest point of each side rail, which provides for more stability. When fitted to my Whispar bars, without the Extender I thought the unit not only looked a little out of proportion with the car, but it was also less stable (had some wobble to it). Next time I have it up on the car, I'll snap some pics for the forum. PS: For the guy who asked (albeit a good while back in the string) whether the Load Warrior made a noise: If you use a fairing there's some minor additional wind noise, which I would have expected with anything mounted on the roof. I noticed a marginal noise increase with the Whispar bars even before the Load Warrior gets added. If you don't use a fairing, then there's a howl form the Load Warrior above a certain speed (somewhere around 45 mph) and that noise is completely unacceptable. I can't quite recall, but if the Load Warrior doesn't come with a fairing, I know Yakima sells one for around $80 bucks (little steep for a piece of fairly brittle plastic!)

Re: Roof Basket

I highly recommend https://www.trailduty.com/ They have a good price on the GOBI racks plus the customer service respond well. Free rack for 14+ GC or feel free to contact them about accessories for WK2 pre 13 and under

Re: Roof Basket

Here's an installation of the Load Warrior on my Jeep:

Yakima - WK2 New Product Installation - Landing Pad, Corebar, Skyline Tower

The Load Warrior does in fact come with a fairing as a part of the package. It's not extra!
