Roof rack

Does anyone carry lumber on a roof rack system? My 2012 GC is my first vehicle that isn't a truck. I need some guidance on a roof rack and it's capabilities.

Thanks, Jimi

I have not but it is something I have considered. The problem is that the width between the bars is only like 3'. So even if you only have 8' boards they would be too long to secure on the bars alone. I just hauled a bunch of trim boards 8-12' inside the cab sticking out the glass opening. If you had a large amount of lumber to haul I'd rent or borrow a utility trailer.

Re: Roof rack

The Rocky Road roof rack is very sturdy and should be capable of carrying more lumber than any of the other racks I've seen or heard about to date.
