Well I pulled the trigger on the Rock Rails. I got them for $200 so I felt it was worth the gamble

Re: RRO Super Sliders vs Mopar Rock Rails

I won't name names, but the tech who first said he fitted mine didn't install them properly and what you don't have is most of what he didn't use. When I took it back to show them that he hadn't done the job right the service manager couldn't believe what he had done. All fixed now, but they had to order another kit to fix it. The metal strips down the inboard edge of the pinch weld clamp the seam and spread the load. Unless you are only using them as steps I wouldn't fit the rails without. Without that clamping piece any upward force on the rails would exert a downward force on those bolts. Now without the 3/8" flag bolts and the clamping bars there's just the shear strength of those bolts to stop the rails rotating in to the bottom of the doors.

I'm still exploring the hardware. At 200 it's hard not to take a chance. I even got a new set of powerstop slotted/drilled rotors and pads thrown in for an extra 50.

Did you ever get those fitted without the hardware? If not, I sent you a PM about being interested in them. Thanks.

Re: RRO Super Sliders vs Mopar Rock Rails

I actually just got them in my hands today. They look real good for $200. Now to figure out the hardware. I'll put them in the basement for now along with the new powerstop slotted/drilled rotors and pads.

Re: RRO Super Sliders vs Mopar Rock Rails

I have the RRO super sliders on mine and they go from fender to fender and are really nice pieces. They look (in my opinion) better than the Mopar pieces.

The only complaint I have is with their powder coating. Mine started rusting only after one winter and 5K miles. I called them and they said there is no warranty on the finish. I didn't have them on the vehicle for 6 months and they started getting rusty. That's a bunch of crap in my opinion. Charge me a little more for a better finish. I had an ARB bull bar on the front of my XJ for 10 years and not a spot of rust started on that thing.

Re: RRO Super Sliders vs Mopar Rock Rails

I just watched this video https://youtu.be/XvWbl0856zc and I don't think these are going to be an issue. The flag bolts I can make up with a welder and grinder. The stiffeners are nothing more then strips of metal with holes drilled in them. That stiffen that area of the seam to keep the bolts from pullng through. Its not rocket science for sure.

They are a little scuffed up so Im going to rough them up a little with scotchbrit and spray them with a bed liner type spray.
