+1 anyone get the new molded running boards from Mopar that are supposedly available now? have not seen any pics of it installed, much less a decent pic of the boards themselves.

Would appreciate pics and info if anyone has!

21 3615 Westin Platinum Oval Black Nerf Step Bars Grand Cherokee 2011 2012 | eBay

And do you guys/gals know of any other styles that resemble this but a little cheaper?

Thanks all
I am using these nerf bars on my altitude and orders the 'D' and not the 'U'. Check out the pics of my ride and you will see whether you like it or not.

Yea man, that's the look right there. Not to mention your wk2 is just mean as $hit and and envious beyond believe. But back to my original thought; that is what I am looking for.. are those the 3 or 4" bars?

Thanks.

Re: Running boards

Basically, I am down to these two choices:

Westin Automotive - Platinum 4" Oval Nerf Bars
(h/t to Black Snow for the idea)

and

2011 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Aluminum Running Boards Nerf Bars Side Step Tubes | eBay

Re: Running boards

Try the second ebay boards, and post a review. A 5.5" step is much better than the 3" on the Mopar bars.

I tend to agree. I also think I can get the price down a few bucks due to the fact that I will be picking them up in NY and not having to have them shipped.

Yup. and for you to have the idea of what you are getting, since for the GC, they call it the D-kick style, it is like a 45 degree bent on the end and not a 90 like what is shown on the picture on the Westin site. click the application chart on the top and you will see at the bottom of the next page that there is 3 different style for the tube, or actually, the ends of the tube.

with regards to having the oval tube OR the running boards like what you have posted from ebay, if you want a real functioning 'step' bar, go for the running boards since that have more area for footing. But others that I have seen, likes the nerfs for rugged looks.

Yea, its really a toss up and the price is irrelevant. I have always had actual running boards and never had nerf's, but this decision is more difficult than I thought. I mean, nobody in my family is short enough to actually need them, so it is more of an aesthetics issue. If there was only a way to see both types (on jeeps of course) next to each other, would make my life so much easier.. Just an hour ago I was dead set on the boards, but after looking around on this site (your car especially) I keep going back to the nerf's.. $HIT!!

Re: Running boards

I finally stopped waiting for Chrysler to build something a installed these. Got them on ebay from SUV Warehouse for about $300.00 I think they are Winbo from China, but they came in a box labeled Broadstreet in N.Y. Overall, they appear to be quality - although the instructions were vague and incomplete but I got them on!
