Do you think anyone will produce a running board like the ones on the X4 4.8? Love the look of those but not sure how they would look with the chrome accents on the wk2

Ernest,
I hit you up with a PM for more info on the Romik boards and figured I would hit you up here since there are other members who probably have the same questions as I.

These boards look really interesting. Would you mind providing pics and thoughts on them regarding build quality etc. if you could? My main purpose for purchasing them is to prevent door dings from ruthless parking lot people and provide a step up for my little ones(4 yrs old).

Appreciate it Ernest!

I like those much better than the tubular ones I have now. I dont care for them as far as function, they are more of a nuisance than a step. I step over them when i am exciting the vehicle. Only time I use the side steps is when I clean the windshield and most of the time I use my step ladder for that. As with winter coming up and these things being chrome I am tempted to take them off.

^^oh nice dude. Those are VERy decent actually. I understand in your situation why you'd want them SOONER rather than later.

Do you plan on trying those out? I could see myself giving in and trying those if nothing better pops up by spring.

+1 anyone get the new molded running boards from Mopar that are supposedly available now? have not seen any pics of it installed, much less a decent pic of the boards themselves.

Would appreciate pics and info if anyone has!

I personally do not like the old school U-shaped nerf bars. I prefer straight tubes. They are probably more functional than the Mopar bars. I've had Westin bars in the past. I took care of them (sealant, wax, etc), but the brackets still exhibited surface rust after 1 midwest winter.

I tend to agree. I also think I can get the price down a few bucks due to the fact that I will be picking them up in NY and not having to have them shipped.

I finally stopped waiting for Chrysler to build something a installed these. Got them on ebay from SUV Warehouse for about $300.00 I think they are Winbo from China, but they came in a box labeled Broadstreet in N.Y. Overall, they appear to be quality - although the instructions were vague and incomplete but I got them on!

the dee zee runners don't tuck in under the door like the Ionic ones do (you can see the brackets in the dee zee ones). As for the Ionic runners, depending on if you're in the NY area or not, but I picked up the exact ones (pretty much the exact ones) on ebay for $230. Since I live there, the vendor chopped off $65 to bring the price down to $230 for the pickup.

hmm, i'm starting to come around to this style the more i see it. Chunderboy, do you have pics up of your style installed? I like how this style has a sort of lip... to hide the gap. Makes it look flush against the lower trim on the jeep.

JohnC - I was almost ready to go for the DeeZee but apparently drilling is required. No thanks. Then i about went for the Romik till i saw this thread and helpful pics!

Have not come across any decent pics at all of the Romik in black installed on a WK2. From what i HAVE seen there seems to be a gap between board and trim.
