Re: Running boards

So is the mopar part number for the X5-type running boards still 82212685?

I was about to order some side steps but would much prefer molded runners similar to the X5...

Curious where you got this information Sparro. I see your located in Ontario (like me) so I assume the price you are quoting is based on a Canadian dealership retail price.

I spoke to Peter at justforjeeps.com and the price they will have is $584 USD (representing MSRP of $649 less a 10% discount). I would expect brokerage fees to be another $55 USD from USA to Canada as they were on my order a couple days ago for roughly the same amount.

Shipping is still unknown as it will depend on package size but I can't envision it being $182 (the difference between your $821 and the US price excluding UPS cost).

Seems like there is a demand for this item. I asked peter if there was a better price if we could do a group purchase and he thinks instead of the 10% mentioned above he could do 15-20% discount on 5 or more orders... Wondering if there is any interest enough to open a topic over in the group buy section...

Oh and Sparro, I'd like to get in touch given we may be close enough to save on shipping by combining orders... I'm too new to pm -need 5 posts but perhaps you can pm me an email address or contact info to discuss...

Re: Running boards

I would be interested in a group buy, but really want to see what they look like first.

My Dealer is Williamson Jeep in Uxbridge. Lee Lawrence is the parts manager who quoted me the price.
I am out of a group buy because I've already committed to him.

Re: Running boards

I too want to see installed pics. I may take a loss on the step bars, and replace with these if they are nice enough.

Yeah I would think Mopar would release some pics anyway prior to the parts being available.

Too bad. Big difference in price (I estimate $635CAD) including shipping and brokerage fees. Canadian dealers certainly know how to "maximize profits."

Re: Running boards

Someone needs to make these running boards that are like the X5 or Mercedes SUV. I think most people here don't like what Mopar has, those chrome tubular bars look like they belong on a pick up truck.

Yeah, that's what we're talking about. Moulded Running boards that are expected to be released in September... *crosses fingers*

Re: Running boards

IMO all of the running boards and bars so far seem to sit too low. It makes the GC look heavy and badly proportioned. Why can't they be made to sit up higher towards the bottom of the doors (leaving clearance to open the doors of course) rather than the bottom of the lower sill? I am sure it is to do with brackets and fixing points but all the ones I have seen seem to sit about 4 inches below the bottom of the doors.

My uncle just got a Ford F-150 Platinum and I think it has electric hide away side steps factory. The interior is amazing as well.

I agree the price is a rip off, but I've committed to him and i'm the type of person that won't go back on my word. I might try to hit him up for a bigger discount on the parts or installation.
