Rust Spot

Hello all, I don't know how, but at the top of my hood near the windshield, there is a small chip in the paint..like a rock hit it. The spot may be about 1/8" if that, and is now rusted. Is this something to be concerned with or can I use touch up paint to cover it without worry? I'm just worried that the little spot is going to end up being a big headache on my '14 limited. Any advice is appreciated. I'll try to take a picture when I get back home tonight or tomorrow. Thanks in advance

Re: Rust Spot

A little touch-up paint wouldn't hurt.

Isn't your hood aluminum?

Here's the spot, it's actually on the upper portion of the front passenger fender

Re: Rust Spot

Regardless of the type of metal, just do it... emery paper, touch up paint.

Re: Rust Spot

Dude, I have the same thing in exactly the same spot. Have been meaning to touch it up but it's been snowing & the car keeps getting salt on it. Next wash I'll be putting some paint on it

That looks like a mild case of road rash.
I'd rub wax into it, or use a fiberglass or similar eraser to clean the crud out of it and either use touch up paint or just coat it with clear fingernail polish as protection until you can get a round tuit and do a better repair.
