Excellent, thanks. So I'm assuming they're removable from the front with a trim tool? Or do you have to get at it from the back?

Yes, remove from front with plastic trim tools. I did it with the advice in this thread: HOW TO: 2014 Grill ring removal

Re: Safaripal Black grill rings Amazon 85.00 ?

Thanks!!! I appreciate the link, that's very helpful. If you've got one for taking the chrome off the mirrors too, that would be awesome.
Funny because I did a search for "how to" threads, and didn't see the linked thread. Guess it's because I assumed the grille was all one big piece, and didn't look for grille rings. Can't wait to make the change. Now I just need to decide if I want to sandblast the chrome and paint the stock set instead of ordering a new set. Not the easiest thing to do (blasting chromed plastic), but it can be done. I did it on a set of wheel covers for a Dakota I had back in '03.

Here you go: http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82212218.pdf

You don't need to disconnect the battery cable.

Re: Safaripal Black grill rings Amazon 85.00 ?

Here you go. I've had them sitting around for a few weeks and finally got them installed. Overall they fit great. I've monkeyed around with my inserts a few times, so some of the tabs on the grille are rough. There is some very, very minor fitment quality things, but given the price I can accept them.

The one thing I will note is the packing is quite poor. 5 of the 7 had scratches on them from the alignment tabs on the insert layered below in the packing. They could be easily buffed out if you wanted to spend the time, but unless you're a foot away you'll never notice them.

I'd save yourself the hassle and just pull the front fascia off; it only takes 10min or so and is quite easy. This will give you better access to the rings and tabs.

The chrome honey combs are also the Chinese knock offs as well - bout $45-60 on ebay. They seem to fit perfect

Re: Safaripal Black grill rings Amazon 85.00 ?

Thanks for the photo, and product review. I may give them a shot after all, since it will be a whole lot easier than scuffing and painting the chrome rings.

I'm not building a show car, so as long as they look like the belong there, I'm good with it. From the looks of the photo, I don't think I'll have an issue.

Yeah, I had removed the chrome rings twice with a trim tool. It's doable, but getting a hold of the tabs can be tricky. I did butcher up the paint, but it was mostly behind the rings. I did do some touch ups when the whole thing was apart.

Any color but white and you'll never notice the difference. I'm very happy with them and the honeycomb inserts.

One more thing, you might want to pick up some touch up paint at the auto store. When putting the fascia back on getting it around the headlights can be a little tricky and you might end up with a small scuff because it's very tight.

Re: Safaripal Black grill rings Amazon 85.00 ?

okay, thanks for the tip. I'll put some painters tape around the edges to protect them during install, and see if that prevents any scuffs.

Re: Safaripal Black grill rings Amazon 85.00 ?

If you're taking the fascia off the tape may not be necessary since you'll be working from the back. Much easier. The scuffs I have were from taking the inserts off while the fascia was installed and using the trim removal tool.

Inserting won't really cause any scuffs.

Oh, cool, even better. Thanks, I thought you meant it got scuffed putting the facia back on. Should be a breeze then.
