I would recommend filling with dealer touch up paint to almost level, then if you have the money, let that dry and apply Dr. Colorchip as the final touch up.

Having good luck with linear scratches using both... Colorchip doesn't seem to "fill" as well as regular old TUP.

I've had good luck with using acetone (nail polish remover) to clean off scuff and paint transfer.

I'd recommend cleaning it all off with acetone. Then wash off the acetone. Then buff it out before adding layers of anything on top of the scuff.

Re: Scratched my bumper after hitting wall

It all depends on how upset you are with your wife over this. If there is peace in the house, touch up will work. If it is causing friction, get it properly painted, bite the bullet, pay the bill and be done with it.

Otherwise every time you look at it your blood pressure will go up a little.

Re: Scratched my bumper after hitting wall

I did the same when going offroad putting two holes while going up a cliff, after 4 attempts in DIY repair/respray, it worked out good for me.

I have attached on the first attempt, followed by the fourth attempt.

Re: Scratched my bumper after hitting wall

Did the park sense auto braking feature not engage? I was getting out of my garage last week and got close to my other car parked in the driveway and the Jeep itself slammed on the brakes. Scared the shit of me as I though I hit something. Got out and nothing was hit. It did it twice and made a very unpleasant sound that scared me.

Re: Scratched my bumper after hitting wall

#1 - Don't let her drive the car again. If she nags, remind her of the damage.

#2 - Best way to easily tackle this is go to dealership to get that touch up pen. The car is white so it will be easy and look great.

#3 - Next best thing is to still get the pen and sort of fill in the un-even surface. Let it try and -maybe- do it again. Once it is fully dry after a few days, you can always go to a detail shop and tell them to cut - polish - buff that area to even all the paint out. Or you can do it yourself.

Like I said, you have a white car so #3 might be overkill. I would stick to #1 and #2.

Re: Scratched my bumper after hitting wall

I'm also surprised the auto braking didn't engage. Mine felt I was too close to another car and slammed on the brakes. This is going to suck when trying to parallel park in a tight spot.

You can actually turn off the auto braking feature in settings.
