Re: Scuff plate upgrade options for Grey stone interiors

Okay so I always wanted the illuminated door sills.

But I got a laredo with the grey interior so what do I do? Think outside the box.

It was raining alot this weekend and I finally had the time to grind out all the plastic with a dremel with a router bit.

Here is what I came up with

No one will notice or care; but if you own a Grand cherokee Laredo with the Greystone interiour you'll be jealous cuz you know we can't just buy the part the goes in the Limited or Overland like the guys with black interiour.

How was wiring the illuminated piece up? Total pain in the ass or fairly straight forward with the instructions?

The wiring is not hard at all.

Instead of stripping the wire and soldering the harnesses I just used some T-Taps. I went the extra step and ran the wiring and attached it to the wiring under the carpets in the footwell for a very clean installation. That was just so it did not look so hap hazard to anyone that goes in there after I do like the next owner when I trade or sell.

Re: Scuff plate upgrade options for Grey stone interiors

Where do i find the black scuff plates with the illuminated logo. I just have a basic black laredo with black interior. I bought the logo's separate and dremeled out the plastic like you did, but i think it looks like shit. So id like to find the scuff plate already together for black interior.

If you want the factory ones you are going to have to part with about $50 to 70 and purchase as set of black scuff plates from a limited/Overland

The illuminated scuff plate kit was designed to replace to factory centers in the limited/Overland units.

It takes a steady hand and lots of patience to remove the material. I used router bit attached to my dremel with a depth gauge.

If I could just buy some OEM one I would, but since I had no option I got creative.
