Shift Knob Plastic Peeling

While my 2014 was in for the recall I asked them to check out the shift knob. The matte black on the stalk itself has started to peel off on the backside right where your fingers are when you shift.

The dealer agreed to replace the shift knob but when they did it was the top leather part only and not the stalk where the matte black film is starting to peel. I've also noticed the chrome plastic inside the cup holders is rough and a little
Anyone else had this issue with the shifter stalk?

I have the same issue, but haven't done anything about it.

Will have to see if they would swap out for a '16 style shifter - I would be willing to pay a little for the 'upgrade'

I have the same issue. I was actually being a dumb ass and peeled off a piece that was sticking out and feel it even more now. Haven't had the issue with the cup holder yet, but not putting it off from eventually happening neither.

I'm in the same boat. Waiting till I get some free time and plan on stripping what's left of the coating and possibly going with plasti-dip or whatever else I have sitting around the shop.

Re: Shift Knob Plastic Peeling

I had the same issue about a year ago (the jeep was 2 years old). I had the cup holder unit, shifter, and shifter stalk replaced.

Re: Shift Knob Plastic Peeling

Question for those with the issue. Do you guys have tinted windows? Do you think it's sun killing it?

I have tinted windows, but I also live in AZ so inside temps when the vehicle is sitting in summer can get hot!
