Yet another picture thread of my latest mod. I was on the fence about this mod for a long time, but I finally decided to just go for it. I peeled off the chrome body side moulding and added the Grand Cherokee letters from the SRT. I am VERY happy with the results and I got the exact look I was looking for. Im not a huge fan of nothing down there as it just looked as if something was missing, but once I put the letters back in place it was perfect. Much cleaner look, but still has an OEM look.
I have yet to see pictures of this done on a Mineral Grey so hopefully you guys enjoy them and it possibly helps someone decide if they want to do it or not. Just to give you an idea, im a very picky person about what I do to my vehicles, and if you were on the fence like I was, I can assure you that you will love the look if you were to do it!! The new badges cost me $22.50 each side plus shipping. The old chrome side mouldings just peel off relatively easily. I took my time and ensured the new letters went on perfectly and were exactly where they are located on the SRT.

The only current mods on my Jeep are 20% matched tint on front windows, visual garage sharkfin antenna, chrome fog bezels, and now the side moulding removal and letters added.

Enjoy the pics!

James

Looks good, I haven't been all that crazy about this when I've seen it before, but it looks good on the MG. The lines show up much better.

How did you make sure it was in the same place as the SRT?

Oh and the landscapers still haven't shown? Just had to be the first to mention it again!

There is a Chrysler dealership 2 miles from my house with a red SRT sitting outside of their main front door. I measured where it goes :)

As far as landscaping, actually it is complete they were at the house all day yesterday and did full landscaping in the front and sodded the entire yard. Looks great!

That cleans up the sides nicely. You think they'd Peel off that easy on a 2011 model? I'd hate to mess up the paint. I used an orbital wheel made to remove the adhesive on my 300 and it cleaned up with ease. It was silver and somewhat forgiving though vs black.

Love this mod and have always wanted to do it, but the lack of ding protection has kept me from going forward with it.

Anyone with Dk Charcoal Pearl compelete this swap?

Looks good!

I was wondering if the side molding does protect against dings from doors and such. It appears as though it would stop it but I guess that depends on the height of the other vehicle. I agree with you though, that is the factor keeping me from doing this as well.

it doesn't protect it entirely as many rear doors would hit way above the chrome strip. from what I've noticed it would protect from most front doors opening and bashing the jeep.

I guess i could say we have some of the same mods! And the removal was a great way to go IMO! :) Can you please give us instructions on how you removed the chrome moldings? Can you please specify the measurements on where the letters should go? And also where did you order the letters from?

Thanks!
Happy Friday!

Sorry I didnt get back to you guys sooner with the measurements. I included a picture that shows basically exactly where the OEM Jeep SRT8 emblems are located. You can put them anywhere you want, but I personally wanted them exactly where Jeep puts them (plus im anal lol).
I ordered the two emblems from Factory Mopar Parts which had them for $22 compared to justforjeeps $27. They come on a strip so installation is easy. Just make sure you install them so they are perfectly aligned because once they even slightly touch the paint they stick incredibly hard.

Removal of the chrome strips wasnt hard. I basically just worked it so I was able to get a finger under one edge then yanked it off. Removal did damage the strips so dont expect to replace them once they are off. I figured worst case if I ever wanted to put them back on I can just roder news ones as they werent that expensive. You wouid have to replace the adhesive anyway. I had no plans to re-install the chrome strips so I had no problem ruining them. Once they are off clean any remaining adhesive off and your done.

I still love the mod and am 100% glad I did it!

Here is the link to the place I bought the emblems. Sorry I dont have the exact link so it might require some searching.

Does anyone have the picture or measurements saved? I get a forbidden error when trying to access the pic. http://www.linenoyz.net/files/images/spacing1.jpg

Apparently this mod is mad popular now and Jeep and everyone down the chain is now cashing in . . . back in May each badge was $22-27 . . . now justforjeeps has them listed at $64!!!!

Too bad I just bought my jeep 2 weeks ago and will now have to cough up the extra cash!

Grand Cherokee Badge Part# 68088725AA

I looked at the link thinking they probbaly just now sell them as a pair, but no kiddin you are right. Now 64 bucks a pop. I paid 22 bucks for each side when I did mine. Thats nuts!
