Side view mirrors auto tilt when in reverse

Is it me or does it feel like when in reverse the side view mirrors auto tilted to low? Is there any way to adjust? I really just want the passenger side to assist in reverse not the drivers side.

Ditto. I really liked the idea of this feature until I tried it. Have switched it off, as pretty much useless.

Re: Side view mirrors auto tilt when in reverse

So Jeep doesn't let you adjust the mirror position once you put it in reverse and the mirrors tilt, and have it stick? This is the way Audi does it, first of all only the passenger mirror tilts, but then once tilted you can adjust the mirror and that saves as a separate setting basically so it goes back to the same place on tilting that you set it to without upsetting the normal operation mirror setting when driving. Kind of assumed it worked the same way in the Jeep. You can move the mirror once it's tilted in the Jeep I thought?

Never thought of trying to adjust the mirrors after they tilt. Will try next time, and see what happens. Thanks.

Doesn't work. Tried several methods... the tilted position remains constant.

Cheers,
Steve

Yeah I actually tried it again today...you can adjust the mirror all you want while tilted, but neither the tilted nor untilted position is affected after you switch out of reverse, both remain the same as before so you'd have to adjust it every time it tilted...

Wouldn't think it too hard for Jeep to program this ability into the system, and to make it memory-saveable.

And while they are doing the re-programming, make the auto-tilt disabled when in Tow/Haul mode. Can't see the trailer when backing up with the mirrors tilted.

Re: Side view mirrors auto tilt when in reverse

On my BMW, the mirror tilt was only the passenger side, and only tilted if you had the mirror adjust selector in the right mirror position. Switch it over to the left position and the mirror wouldn't tilt. Try that.

Re: Side view mirrors auto tilt when in reverse

I had the same complaint after getting the jeep, in my acura only the mirror you select goes down, selecting is quick and easy by just swiping the mirrow adjust left or right. I even went as far as taking the driver panel off and testing the 3 connections to the mirror by unplugging each separetly and thought I found one that wouldnt let it tilt but later that night found that it also disabled the auto dimming, so no luck there.
