Re: Simonizing

Yeah Collinite waxes are an exception. Meguiars used to make a heavy wax called #16 that was pretty long lived too.

Re: Simonizing

Lots of excellent synthetic waxes out there like Zaino, Klasse and many more - check out autogeek, it's the Jeep forum for auto detailing.

Re: Simonizing

I use Pinnacle Souverän and it seems to last about one year; however, my cars do stay garaged a lot.

Re: Simonizing

Souveran is a great wax, but its one of the shortest lived waxes on the market. Its a great looking rich wax though, I use it.

Dealership simonized my overland when I bought it, you have to remember that it comes with a 7 year warranty, plus it comes with the Teflon interior coating that also has a 7 year warranty! So I would def recommend it!

Re: Simonizing

That dealer protectant package stuff is an absolute ripoff. All it is is a bulk grade exterior sealant, you can provide much better protection with a bottle of Zaino or any other polymer sealant. For what they charge you could pay a detailer to come detail it and reseal it a few times.

Teflon needs to be applied at like 700 degrees to bond, any protectant or sealant with "Teflon" in it is just snake oil.

Pure profit for the dealer.

Re: Simonizing

It's more than just sealant, it comes with a warranty and if you're paint is ever damaged they repair it at no extra cost to you. I got my entire hood redone back on my 98 G.C.

Re: Simonizing

I just used Liquid Glass on my son's 04 Exploder this weekend. My first time using something that was not just wax. I must say it gives a hell of a shine.

The product they use is basically worthless, it won't protect your paint or your interior. The only thing of any value is the warranty, so its just like any other warranty you might purchase for anything, you have to weigh the pros and cons. If they didn't make money selling warranties, they wouldn't sell them.

Liquid Glass is great stuff, it's been around for years and will produce a good durable coat of sealer on a vehicle.

Yeah Liquid Glass is one of those under-appreciated products...

I was just mentioning the warranty since no one else did. The Porsche dealer uses the same stuff and I've been happy with the product. It protects the paint. I had the hood redone for what I thought was a bird dropping but thinking about the way it looked a little more we're pretty sure the dealer dropped some kind of chemical on the hood (just a drop), when I had the '98 Jeep in for service. This was several years ago.
