SPAREBUMPER/SUPERBUMPER for Summit?

Hi,

Anyone with a Summit model and sporting a SpareBumper / SuperBumper? Pics appreciated. Wondering how it would look without the rear fascia off and these bumpers in it's place

Alright I'll be the tester. I took the plunge and ordered it. Will post photos and advice if it worked out.

Re: SPAREBUMPER/SUPERBUMPER for Summit?

Hi, MOFSTEEL

Yes, I actually saw your photos in previous posts and although I was looking at getting the Sparebumer/Superbumper but feared it might look too much like a douche sticking out too much your photo proved it looked okay.

By the way you do have a Bumper Shield XL based on your photo which I was also considering, but wanted a stepper as well for some odd reason I can't explain.

My concern for asking is because the product might interfere with the back up sensor detecting it as an obstacle. I'm in communication with the proprietor of the product and is awaiting my feedback on whether it works as is, or with the addition of a sensor strip that absorbs the signal (might or might not work).

Will update if it works and with photos.

Re: SPAREBUMPER/SUPERBUMPER for Summit?

Yeah I don't have sensors so I couldn't tell you if it interferes.
I'm more worried about people rear ended me in slippery conditions than looking like a douche. I do only run it in the winter since my theory is ill have a much greater chance of being hit because of the snow/ice. Obviously the Jeep looks better without it but it does serve a function when it's installed.

My one gripe about the product is the finish. After one season I started to see rust. I'll need to strip it down and repaint or get it powder-coated before next winter.

Good luck with your decision.

Agreed. Yeah excited and hoping it will not interfere. And thanks for feedback on the product regarding rust.

Re: SPAREBUMPER/SUPERBUMPER for Summit?

Yeah it's a great accessory for downtown peeps with tight parking. Makes them think twice before closing in.

My package arrived but I won't be able to install until I get to it by end of the week. I'll report if it interferes with the back up sensors.

Those with no rear sensors won't have any problems.

Rust Shield is a black paint made to paint over rust and prevent its return. It seals the metal from oxygen. The oxide part of ferric oxide (rust) needs oxygen to spread.

I painted the rusted inside of a dump truck bed with it about ten years ago and it is still holding up. It is tough as yak jerky and stops rust.

Here's the Sparebumper install. Unfortunately it interferes with the rear backup sensors despite the included sensor foam pad that can absorb the signal.

Looks very aggressive and would have been useful for downtown parking.

Yes, if your goal is to hit the car behind you.
