Spider Lights DRLs?

Anyone tried them? I've current got normal tower bulbs for my DRLs, but the spider lights might look a little bit cooler (sorta like the Porsche LED DRLs on the new Panamera and Cayennes).

For those that haven't seen them, they're these bulbs that have spring loaded arms, you squish them in while you plug the bulb in, and then they release once inside the housing. So you end up with something that looks kinda like this:

Just hopefully not so garish.

I'm just not sure if there's enough room to get them to open, seeing as the DRLs have those little reflector shields in front of them. Anyways, was curious if anyone has tried them, if they fit, and if so, how they look.

EDIT: Google shows that when closed up and not yet released, they're 2.83" long. Not sure how long the normal bulbs are offhand, but I'm thinking that it'll be possible to get them to open up correctly, possibly with a little finagling.

Re: Spider Lights DRLs?

Well, I ordered them and have good and bad news. The good news is, they fit and they look awesome.

The bad news is, the bases aren't the right size for 3157s. They look right, but simply don't fit. I'm awaiting a response from the seller on if he will send a set that is correctly made or what.

But they do really look awesome. While the star shape isn't my favorite, they look WAY better than the whole reflector lighting up. They'd look really awesome with a + shape, but I haven't found any that are like that.

Re: Spider Lights DRLs?

If the bases are those firm bases I have taken an x-acto knife and trimmed the top of the taper so that they fully engage into the socket.

Re: Spider Lights DRLs?

That's the same sort of base they have. The seller offered to let me ship them back for a refund, but frankly I don't feel like I should have to pay for return shipping on their crappy product.

I may try messing with them to get them to fit. I feel like there's a way to get them to engage and fit in right, just needs some sort of adjusting.
