Re: SRT hood on Limited

I really appreciate this thread. I had an accident last week and am replacing my hood with an SRT. I think it will look sweet. my truck is a granite crystal and I'm tempted to paint the inserts something interesting like red but I'll probably just stick with basic black.

I dig the looks of the SRT. I like the hood, it is aggressively looking. And yes, if it was much cheaper and I lived in the desert/mountains, I might be tempted to do it myself for the added cooling (venting ports) aspect of it. Alright, maybe the diesel sniffers who tow a lot probably should be looking into it as a way to control the rising coolant temps. But putting it on a V6 (gas or diesel) and not have the performance ( i.e. acceleration) to go along with the looks is very ....pretentious.

Reminds me of all those early to mid 2000s kids who added a Subaru STI wing to their Subaru with Impreza 2.5 NA or 2.0 NA engines. My point is that some "visual tuning" elements really only work if you also have the supporting "mechanical tuning".

I love the look of the SRT hood as well...I'd have no problem with people thinking I am trying to impersonate an SRT...F them if they don't like it...but if you guys want to add some muscle to the V6 that's all you need is one of these ...this will let you hang with just about any SRT (except if they are supercharged)

Ha...well they're not cheap..for a mere $6,300 you can get one of these kits from RIPP

But hey ..if you're stuck with a v6 and want to add some serious hp..this is the only option
