Took my bumper cover off a did a test fit to see what was up. The entire grille assembly was not sliding down far enough into the bumper cover, so I trimmed my bumper cover lip (the portion that would be on the bottom of the grille) about half an inch the entire length of the bumper cover, leaving the tabs intact of course and that did it. Used a dremmel with a cut off wheel. Now the grille can sit deeper down in the bumper cover thus eliminating the body line issue. The bumper cover installed with ease. No wrestling with it like others have done. Looks like it came from the factory as the trimmed portion of the bumper cover is hidden once installed. It was so simple guys. Thanks Al

How about a few photos of what your did? Still have my SRT8 Grille HoneyComb Backing I would love to install.

I can confirm what Platinum AI has stated. Cutting the front bumper about 3/8-1/2" back and leaving the tabs in tact does work. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1431995456.518873.jpg

Cut the top part lf the front bumper cover valance where the tabs snap into the lower portion of the srt8 grille. Leave the tabs in tact, cut everything else the entire length of the lower portion of the grille, back 1/2". I went up the corners into the side of the bumper cover just barely enough untill I could get the bumper snapped back in complete.

Thanks KJ. I had several requests for pics on what I did. I am not computer savy at all. I just got a smart phone about 6 months ago. I am about 6-7 years behind mankind so I do appreciate it.

Bringing this back up. Does anyone have pics of trimming the bumper?

Just like KJ said. Trim the part of the bumper cover that sits underneath the grille. Leave tabs intact. The curves on the cover near the headlights needs to be trimmed as well. I would start at around 1/2 inch. Keep checking fitment throughout until the cover clips in with no binding.

Proper fitment is when the body lines on the cover and the grille line up. Bolt up your grille to the truck so you can check fitment from time to time.

I don't know if anyone else has been wondering about this project but I tried it and am so happy I did. IMO it completely changes the front end, its soo mean!!!
I used a little saw and trimmed off the lower edges of the grill brackets and the bumper finally fit.

any of you guys familiar with this vendor?

The price is good. Just not sure how it differs from OEM. Since the grille is the face of my brilliant black Jeep I want it to look good

For 11 13 Jeep Grand Cherokee Mesh Style Glossy Black Front Bumper Hood Grille | eBay
The ad says it will fit both SRT and non-SRT models, which are different... so I'd like to know if it is a direct replacement on a non-SRT, or if the bumper would need to be tweaked like when using an SRT grille on a non-SRT...

That grille does not have the trim rings and honeycomb inserts like the SRT grilles. Not sure if you are looking for the SRT look or not, but I thought I would point out the differences.

Re: SRT8 Grill on Non-SRT8 GCs... first try.

thanks I did see it fits all. I also know that it does not have the honeycomb or trim rings. I have seen two types of grilles out there that are black and OEM for the 2011-2013. One is the Vapor which has the black mesh and the other is the Altitude style which has the chrome mesh. I was looking to the black mesh/honeycomb but saw this price as well. Still leaning more towards OEM as I want the brilliant black and black mesh
