Re: SRT8 Grill on Non-SRT8 GCs... first try.

I'm looking for exactly the same thing for my Brilliant Black Laredo...not the SRT look, just all-black. The ebay grille is probably just gloss black, would need to be repainted to match the truck, but the paint would be more durable than over the stock chrome grille. It also has the black honeycomb, which I like. The alternative is the Altitude Grille, already painted BB, but at almost 500$... http://www.justforjeeps.com/blaledgr.html
I figure I'll try the eBay one and see how close the finish is to the JEEP color, and have it repainted to match if needed...

Ben

The ebay grille has what I call the diamond shaped mesh. It is different than the honeycomb. If the diamond shape mesh is what you are looking for, then your plan for painting it is good one. I thought about getting this grille and then found out you could fit the SRT grille. I hope, you get the look you are looking for.

I have seen the Altitude grilles in the high $300's and the SRT grill in the low to mid $300. I still think I want the brilliant black and will get the SRT grill.

The srt grill adds more of a mean look to the front end over the altitude grill. You should definitely check out these Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 2013 SRT8 WK Brilliant Black Front Grille New Mopar | eBay

i agree canekid. I wish I did not have to hack it to get it in but so be it. Not sure if its in the thread but did you install yours? And did you follow the trim grille or trim bumper solution. I am leaning toward the trim grille as it seems like less to cut

Yeah I posted earlier that I did the install, I was hesitant at first to cut it but it seemed to be just extra plastic that didn't matter to the structure of the mounts. with that being said I chose to cut the grill not the bumper, all I did was put some tape on the black paint to protect from scratches and then I followed that template guideline earlier in the thread cutting more and more each time until I was able to get the bumper on. I wish I would've remembered to take pictures!!

And as far as the trim on my bottom bumper, I know what you're talking about, I didn't wrap it black, it came all black plastic.

Re: SRT8 Grill on Non-SRT8 GCs... first try.

I trimmed the bumper and it took all of 5 minutes with a dremel tool. Everything fits nicely without trimming the grill what-so-ever.

Re: SRT8 Grill on Non-SRT8 GCs... first try.

The Vapor grille arrived today via FedEx. Now which method to use, trim the grille? or trim the bumper. I do not have a dremel but do have lots of saws to use on the grill. I want it to look as good as possible. I have seen pictures of both methods and they both look good although on the trim the grill method there does seem to be a slight mismatch

I did trim the bumper. Took a little off each time and checked fit. You can get it perfect that way. Check fitment on the ground, no need to keep putting the bumper on.
