Re: SRT8 Steering Wheel Installed

Success! Looks great. I agree about the covers on the stereo buttons, it must be a seperate part # for some reason. Can't imagine they would cost too much even from the stealership. If I stop in to ask about the shift knob I will see if I can track down a part #

Re: SRT8 Steering Wheel Installed

^At least three of us got it from ebay. Looks to be first quality with perhaps exception of rear panel covers surrounnding stereo buttons.

All my functions are working well except cruise control. Otherwise heated wheel, EVIC, stereo, backlighting, horn are all good to go. The new wheel has buttons for ACC and collision warnong, though my rig lacks those features.

Ergonomics are killer. The 10 and 2 bulges are perfect, leather top not as thick as wood version. The bottom is thicker and has great ergo holds for the chillax, arm on the center console or door rest, hook a few fingers, and cruise position. The perforated and smooth leathers, metal highlights, and stitching are sweet.

Doubtful, as mine looked as new with cellophane wrap. It does beg the question as to how this ebay seller is getting and selling these at circa 1/3 list price. That said, I'm not complaining.

That's odd, my cruise is working just fine. Not the ACC since my overland did not have it but the regular CC works as usual.

... anyone know where I can find the SRT8 shift knob?

.
I purchased a 2012 SRT8 shift knob from my dealer in Kirkland, WA. It was something like $85 USD. They didn't charge me to install it.

How did you get your stock knob off? I tried removing the jeep logo but it wouldn't come off.

Re: SRT8 Steering Wheel Installed

To remove the knob, push down on the chrome collar at the bottom of the knob. Note it may brreak a plastic clip off which would require a new collar to reinstall original. Then there is a metal lock clip exposed under the collar, remove that metal clip to get your knob off (so to speak).

I didn't want to break anything, so I had the dealer install it. No plastic clips were broken when they did it. They didn't charge me for the removal and installation of the knob and I was having them install the aluminum pedals at the same time. The cost for the installation of the pedals was slightly less than quoted - $19.58 (instead of $20.00) so I don't think they charged me for swapping the shift knobs.

Re: SRT8 Steering Wheel Installed

what does it look like when the paddles are removed from the SRT wheel? The paddles and engraved SRT on the bottom of the wheels are the two things keeping me from doing this mod.

There's a picture from Moosehead at the bottom of page 2 of this thread, post #24.

Here's the picture link: http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/DSC_0831.jpg
