Re: Stainless Steel Brake & Gas Pedals

I ended up doing some minor mods to the backside of the brake pedal pad, but eventually got it on and perfectly seated.

hm, well, as far as the slippery pretty pedal and all..

So here I live in New England.

Got my driver's license in 1974.

Drove not only my but many of my friend's jalopies.

Now drive out to the barn often to hang with / deal with 'the pony'. And there is a lot of slippery 'stuff' there if you get my drift.

Hint: if you are hitting the brake pedal hard, the fancy pad makes no difference. If you know the vehicle well (and probably even if you don't) you are gonna hit the pedal pretty squarely.

Further hint: if you have no idea what you are doing and you only hit the corner 1/4 inch of the brake pedal, and then sue the world because the corner of the brake pedal didn't grip on your slick-soled shoes - you will be reviled by everybody on this forum forever more. And perhaps rot in some hot place, but I won't infer a particular set or religious beliefs..

Just MHO.

Re: Stainless Steel Brake & Gas Pedals

I used soapy water to lube the rubber around the back of the brake pedal cover. Then I used a short handled flat screwdriver with a wide tip. The wide tip was the key, I fumbled around with a skinny tip for an hour before switching screwdrivers and had the pedal cover on in 5 minutes.

I used duck tape to hold up the upper rubber lip of the chrome brake pedal cover. Once the cover is seated properly, peel off the duct tape and it should slip into place. Figured that out after messing with it for over an hour...bloody knuckles and all!!

As mentioned by others.....just hear the break pedal cover up with Hair dryer and slip it on. Still not easy, but 5-10 minute job. Looks nice.

Yeah looks nice but not practical for me,I thought the black part of the pedals would have more grip then they did,not safe enough for me.

So, I'm confused...are you saying you like these pedals or not? ;-)

They looked good in the site when I got them i wasn't impressed and sent them back. The black pads in these pedals weren't the rubber I expected and I could just imaging that getting wet and my foot slipping off the brake if I had to use it in an emergency or otherwise so I guess the answer is no..I didn't like them.

These dont slip on a wet shoe at all. They have worked perfectly and where i live it rains every day and no problem. Buy them with confidence and enjoy the look that this bring to your cabin.
