And the problem with that is that it's not a ticket, it's an arrest, at least in most states.

Re: Stupid or Cool?

It all ends up to what you like OP, me personally I would not add that particular mod to my GC...if I think it is ''non cool'' ? I would just say that it's too much bling for my taste. Besides, just having the law look at me closer and giving them a reason to stop me, then, go over all my other toys/mods onboard, would be an instant turn off.

Re: Stupid or Cool?

It's not stupid at all
If you wanna pimp the ride do it but like everyone said make sure you don't get into trouble with the law. Make sure it's ok with certain colors and have the law printed out.
What seems flashy to some it's nice other. Same with the ppl that de-chrome everything

If I wouldn't had payed thousands for my sound upgrade I would got these

400$/wheel

Other Georgians have claimed that officers have spoken to them and said that they are fine with red..NEVER FLASHING...and NEVER BLUE.

How is this different from under car red neon?

I certainly don't want a ticket...so I will print out this law and keep it with me.

Thank you all for the responses.

I don't read that section in that way. There are restrictions and a reason for having them is required for a permit. To use red lights in the spirit of this thread most likely wouldn't qualify.

Besides the issue of red being used for emergency vehicles you may also have an issue with showing any red light at the front of the vehicle under other statutes.

Re: Stupid or Cool?

Forward facing red illumiination of any kind will get you arrested, probably in most, if not all, states. And IMO, it would look cheap, tacky.

To each is own. I saw these awhile back. I am still on the fence about them. Like everyone states it is illegal to drive with them on in most states.

Re: Stupid or Cool?

I"m pretty sure that they are illegal to even have installed, on a licensed M.V., and if they were noticed during vehicle inspection, it would fail, at least here in this state.

I don't use them anywhere but on trails so never an issue with law enforcement in fact a deputy sheriff stopped by when I was in a city park parking lot adjusting and aiming all my LEDs including the red ones so I explained what each lights purpose was on the trail and the only thing he gave me was compliments.

States do vary on this issue...where if you regularly cross state lines, you would possibly be at risk on one state but not another. You would draw attention definitely, where you might or might not want the nice officers attention all that much--as once they notice you for anything they may just notice you for other things--the old "don't drive a red car" theory of avoiding tickets.

But if you do get stopped, take the advice from the helpful poster here and be sure let the nice officer know you think his red lights look cheap and tacky.

Worse, don't expect local constabulary to be as well versed in the law as a state trooper would typically be. Not at all unusual to be ticketed for something that a state trooper would tear up the ticket for...
