Summit drivers seat wearing

Anyone else have this issue with the drivers seat wearing? Jeep has 7000 miles and is 6 months old. I have the interior warranty so it looks I'm making a trip to the dealer. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1431896219.617393.jpg

Wow thats not good, 6 months and the surface is flaking off like that. Your 3/36 sould cover that, what is an interior warranty? I have not heard of that?

Summit drivers seat wearing

The dealer offered me a 5 year interior warranty. It overs stains scratches rips and other damage to the interior for 8 years. I think I paid $500 for it. If the seats are going this soon. I'm guessing the extra years I added will come in use. They had the car for a day and coated everything with some stuff. Not too sure. I think it was zillion or something like that.

My seAts have the rear seat screens so I'm not sure if they will be replacing the whole seat or just parts

Yes agree that extra 5 years protection will be good to have with the seats finish falling off after 6 months. Disappointed to see that

Re: Summit drivers seat wearing

They had a similar issue with my 09 Ram. Seats started tearing at like 6 months. They replaced the seat covers.

Re: Summit drivers seat wearing

Wow, it did that at almost 7000 miles? The creases and wear seems excessive for the mileage, but that scratch is definitely caused from something like a jeans button.

I will say though what I found out as odd is my brand new Summit that has 1,024 miles on it (purchased last month with 24 on the odo) even shows a very slight hint at wear on that side and I am very anal when it comes to getting in and out of my vehicle. I'm finding it very hard to not put some weight on that area just because how high this thing sits even in entry/exit ride height. That and the fact that the bolster sits high there is almost no way to avoid sliding over that bolster. For reference I'm 6ft tall and weigh 175lbs so it's not like I'm a 300lb'er sliding jeans across it.

Re: Summit drivers seat wearing

Well I'm 5'10" and weigh 150. Not the biggest person. It's kind of hard not to slide into the jeep. I do wear jeans each day but there are no buttons of rivets on them.

On a side note. I also have a 2010 GMC Denail XL pickup with almost 180k on it. It's driver seat looks pretty damn good. A few creases but no cracking.

Re: Summit drivers seat wearing

Wow! that's pretty extreme wear for that amount of time. I would try using a leather conditioner on the new seat cover once installed and try to be mindful about how your getting in and out from now on.

Every time i get in mine, i try and make sure my backside doesn't drag across that bolster. Its very annoying of you ask me to have the seat wear out so easily.

Re: Summit drivers seat wearing

Here's my '14 Summit with 22k and I can pretty much guarantee nobody gets in and out more than me (realtor) plus I have had 4 left leg surgeries since I bought it which means I have been a "slider" for most of it.

Good luck with getting it replaced, it's extreme wear so they should. Mighta had a fit on your hands with the standard warranty due to the obvious jean abrasions but the extra interior coverage looks like it's about to pay off.

Re: Summit drivers seat wearing

I'll join the fun and add a picture as well. Here is my 2014 Summit with the brown interior. Purchase last month with 24 miles on the odo. It has a build date of april of 2014 so its technically already a year old so to be honest im not sure if this slight wear was already there when I bought it or not. But either way as it sits now it has 1,110 miles on it and I am VERY picky about how I get in and out of my car. I try to lift my weight above the seat prior to sliding out. I am 6ft tall 175lbs for reference. My wear is very minor but if you notice the rear half of the bolster has some weird lines or marks in the leather. Pictures with a flash really bring things out so in person someone would think it looks perfect, but I did notice this and thought it was worth mentioning since mine is almost new with only 1000 miles on it.

Click the picture for full size version.
