they pop out fairly easily from the inside part of the trim. I didnt know beforehand and used a few coat hangers to get inbetween the light and the trim. Popped both out without scratches in a few minutes. there is only only clip holding them in and it is molded in the trim piece in the middle of the short side of the trim.
My understanding is that you can also use a flathead screwdriver from the larger side prying upwards but i was concerned w chipping the paint.

I used a flat blade, no problem. I put blue painters tape over the paint at the top. Once the corner came up, I just grabbed it with my fingers and it snapped right off. 15 minutes including the taping.
