Summit without splash guards.

Have a question. I'm not going to put splash guards on my Summit. I've grown to dislike the look of these on the GC. Specifically on the Summit does it chip up excessively without splash guards for those who run without them.?

Re: Summit without splash guards.

Get paint protection film installed on the wheel arches and the rails or you will get damage eventually.

my 2014 summit will be 3 years old in march and I have not any issues with chipping at all in that area, the paint is actually holding up well. a couple of stone hits on the front bumper but not many. Now the two sided tape lifting off from the fender flares is a different story be prepared for some of that.

Re: Summit without splash guards.

I stopped buying these two vehicles ago and haven't found a difference in any "damage", at least with the way I drive and where I drive. Do note that fitting splash guards for the Summit is more of a chore because of few choices due to the very different front and rear body and fascia contours from other trim levels.

Re: Summit without splash guards.

Color matters. My Deep Cherry Red MY14 with 32k looks like it has a light coat of whitish winter road salt mist on the rock rails and front area of the rear fender wells (there is OEM protector film there but its beat up).

From a short distance only I know it's there. Living in the Cleveland area I have given up on chip/dent free paint on any leading edge.

Well im in Pittsburgh so the weather is very much the same in the winter. My last JGC was Cherry Red, I had some peppering infront of the rear wheels in the rocker area. I did have splash guards on this one. I usually keep these vehicles 2-3yrs so maybe ill go without on this Summit.
