Both my 2012 & 2015 Overlands also had sunroofs. Neither has given me any issues so far. I love being able to brighten up the interior by opening the sun shade. And on nice days, opening the sunroof glass lets in some additional air, which is very nice.

At this point, I wouldn't purchase a vehicle without a sunroof.
I agree. My previous car ( '13 Honda Accord ) had sunroof and I loved it. Now i have a '15 JGC Limited with Sunroof and I also love it. It's nice to have the option to open up the top on a nice day and let the rays in. So for me, sunroof is the way to go.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

I also have the sunroof (not pano) and thoroughly enjoy it. Sunshine streams in during the winter, vent it during rain, fully open on the nice warm days. I have had a sunroof on my last 3 vehicles with no experienced issues. When you are having fun at the dunes or hills your passenger can raise their hands out the sunroof like a roller coaster ride. I do not suggest the driver doing the same though.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

I'm looking at new/used WK2's and ddfinitely want the sunroof. But, probably the normal non-pano version. For what it's worth, I have a 2000 WJ with 218K miles and the sunroof has never had a problem.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

actually every car or 4x4 i have ever owned has had a sunroof the latest being the pano. do i ever use it no. nor in my previous. it is nice and quiet with no leaks thats a bonus is it a deal breaker no. personal choice i guess i just find it to glary in summer and i prefer not to be seen in my car hence the tinted windows. opening the roof lets in light to be seen lol.

actually i lied i have opened it whilst parked in the sun to let the hot air out

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

I have a 2012 GC srt and the pano sunroof makes a lot of noise.I am trading it in on a 2015 Gc srt with the pano sunroof.Wife and I both like the sunroof but I hope they have the noise issue resolved.

In fact thanks to Milous I just checked and it is built waiting to be shipped.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

I didn't want one, and specifically passed up on new JGC's on dealer lots, just bc they had one. in fact, prior to 2014 M/Y, thet were standard on Limited.

I nearly bought the 2014 Ltd in gray, no sunroof, but wife thought the interior too dark, as it was black leather, black dash, blach headliner, and with no sunroof, just too dark.

I bought the Deep Cherry Red Ltd, sand interior and headliner, but it had a sunroof. Didn't want it, so we were leaving to "sleep on it", when the dealer said he'd sell it for the same price as the gray one. I still didn't want it, but wife talked me into it.

After 7 months ownership, I'm starting to like the color (I still prefer gray), but have never opened the sunroof.

When I was in the market for a car the only two things I really wanted were HID headlights and a sunroof. My old Jeep didn't have one and I came from a vehicle that had a sunroof. I missed it and I just love being able to open the top. When I purchased my WK2 it had everything I wanted. Many people stop using the sunroof after the novelty runs out, but not me. It was 60 degrees out (cold for our standard) and I still drove around with it open. Since the glass on the pano sunroof is tinted it's nice to have a nice open feeling while driving but not have the sun beating down on me and overheating me. If I want that I can just open the sunroof.

I rolled my last Grand Cherokee that didn't have a sunroof and the area around my head only collapsed a little. I'm not planning on rolling the WK2 but if it does roll over I'm hoping the frame will hold.

I say buy the car with the sunroof.

That said, when my wife purchased her car earlier this year she got it without a sunroof. She gets sunburned easily so she would never use it.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

Love mine, crack it during the heat of Texas summers, and enjoy the open-ness of it when im cruising around in town. I keep it closed on the highways.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

I agree, no on the standard sunroof. Heck yes on the Pano.

Before the Wk2 i had never had a sunroof. I always had the presumption that they will always leak or have problems. When i got my Overland, promptly fell in love with the pano and it was a must. It was standard on the overland and not on the lower trims. To date, 14k miles and pano is great. I love opening the shade on cloudy days or for my daughter to look outside. I do wish the tint in the glass was darker though on those hot sunny days.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

No sunroofs on any of my vehicles - had to special order them (except the Z06) that way. Had them on prior vehicles and never used them and don't like the extra weight so high on the vehicle.

Re: sunroof or no sunroof???

My wife and I both love the pano sunroof on our SRT. She was bummed that you can't get it on the Durango we looked at. Up here in Michigan you need all the sunshine you can get.
