Suntek Protective Film Installation (Warning Picture Intensive)

After months of researching and deciding whether or not to get protective film put on my WK2, I pulled the trigger this weekend. Robert with Next Level Tint in Houston, a mobile tint guy I used for all three of my cars, came out today and installed it and I'm very happy with the job! Robert installed Suntek protective film which includes a 5 year warranty. Following are only a few of the 100+ pics I took so if you'll want to see more or have any questions let me know.

Here we go - Robert's pulling off the first precut piece for the hood.

Sprayed down and about to lay it on the hood.

Hood piece getting cleaned up and squeegeed.

Close ups of the hood piece and the edge of the film.

Installing the front fender film.

Front fender installed.

Installing front bumper.

Close up of where front bumper meets front fender.

Installing rear bumper.

Rear bumper done.

Installing custom piece for the front roofline area. I've had rocks and road debris kick up and scratch this area on my previously owned cars and decided to add this.

Close up of installed front roofline piece to show the edge line of the film.

Last but not least Robert installed pieces on all four door edges.

Close up of door edge. I've got about a 1/2" of protected edge.

And that's it. It took several hours to install everything but I'm glad I decided to install the protective film. I initially considered a bug deflector for the front hood but the film provides a lot more coverage. If you'll would like to contact Robert of Next Level Tint in Houston I can send you his contact information if you PM me. Hope these pics help those who are considering installing protective film decide one way or the other.

Nice pix. We had film work (3M) done in Allentown (PA) at Rockguard Film -- less overall coverage than you got, but in addition to the front stuff added headlights, lower sides (after removing the crappy factory stuff) and door sills. A worthwhile investment if a good installer is in the area, and Rockguard was superb.

How do you like River Oaks Dodge Jeep for service? We spend several weeks a year near them, and sooner or later are going to need maintenance or service while in the area.

This is my second Grand Cherokee purchased from them and I've been very happy with their service. I only wish they were open on the weekend for greater convenience. I had a radio issue with the WK2 and they replaced the entire radio in about an hour.

And thanks for pointing out that pic 'cause I forgot to erase my license plate number.

Re: Suntek Protective Film Installation (Warning Picture Intensive)

Thanks for the River Oaks feedback. Now all I have to do is find a good brushless carwash around the Galleria area and I'll be in hog heaven. Spoiled here with two good ones close by.

Folks up here sometimes wonder out loud why anybody in East Texas would get an AWD WK2 when there's (almost) no snow. Obviously, they aren't used to duck hunting around there and in Louisiana!
