I have a case of the trailer harnesses laying around I am just trying to liquidate them. So I can make some harnesses out of them.

What I would need to know from interested parties:

What year WK2: 2011- 2013 Default Full function plug and play (Brake/Turn only by request)

2014 Plug and Play Brake/Turn function (requires tapping a wire to obtain tail light function)

What functions you want: Full function: Brake/Turn, Tail
Brake/Turn Only

What bulbs are you planning on using:

Halogen = harness with no resistor

Halogen and LED = harness with no resistor

FULL LED = harness with resisitor

Hi Jeep_addicted
I would like to buy a pair of these harnesses from you, if you have any available. For my 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.6.
Let me know Thank you

Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

One of the first things that I did when I bought my jeep a couple of years ago was replace the taillight bulbs with LED. I found that the LED came on quicker and is brighter than the stock bulbs, increasing safety by a small margin (i.e. more noticeable).

I've been meaning to buy the rear deflector LED replacement for a while as it will help in fog and snow. Now that summer is hear, I finally pulled the trigger. Looking forward to getting these... (grin)

Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

My rear deflector LED replacement lights came in early this week. I finally had a chance to install them tonight. Everything was plug and play and took about an hour overall.

They work great. They also perfectly match the Superbright LEDs that I replaced the brake lights with. Couldn't ask for anything more than that...

Which bulbs did you use for the taillights?

I first tried the 3157-x26-CBT: 3157 CAN Bus LED Bulb, which has a built-in load resistor, but got the fast flash problem. It didn't work with the Jeep. So, I got the one below and two load resisters, one for each side.

Brake: 2x 3157-x45-T: 3157 LED Bulb - Dual Intensity 45 SMD LED Tower 3157-R45-T: Red
Turn: 2x 7440-x45-T: 45HP-LED 16mm Wedge Base 7440 Tower bulb 7440-W45-T: Cool White
Reverse: 2x WLED-x19-T: 194 LED Bulb - 19 SMD LED Wedge Base Tower WLED-W19-T: White
License: 2x Putco 230194W-360

Resistor: RL-650: Tail Light Load Resistor Kit RL-650: Tail Light Load Resistor kit

I put the resistor in a Radio Shack project enclosure (3x2x1) and used tiny bolts to attach it to the metal plate. I then drilled a hole to run wires through the plastic box and found a place to attach the box behind the bumper under each headlight.

The overall cost was a bit over $200. Yes, you can get cheaper bulbs, but Superbirghtleds have been really good quality so I am confident that they will last.

However, it's not that much more expensive to buy the kit from Taillight solutions ~$325 and everything is plug-n-play.

Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

I purchased the plug and play kit from Taillight Solutions a few months ago. Went with the LED bulbs for the brake/turn signals and rear bumper lights. Weird thing is I did not need to install the load resistors at all. I haven't experienced any hyper-flash whatsoever and these have been on the vehicle for a few months already!

My thought would be that Jeep may have made changes to the 2015 system to allow for LED direct replacement, or maybe just the 2015 SRT models. The 2014 models require load resistors as the system expects bulbs within a certain resistance range to be installed.

Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

Hopefully tail light solutions have a tail light LED better than the ones pictured on their WK2 section. Those things have to be terrible in the housings with just a small bundle of rear facing LED's. Not trying to start a war here on what's best, but if that's truly what they are selling for the rear brake/turn bulbs those things have to be pretty poor especially in any sort of daylight conditions. Does it even utilize the housings reflector?
There are some pretty good options available now for plug and play LED kits.

I don't know what bulbs they are using for their taillight kit. Either they, or someone who has bought the kit, would have to respond.

They do say that the bulb may be different depending on inventory, so maybe that's why they show a LED stock photo instead of one depicting the actual bulbs. I would think that there would be a bunch of complaints in this thread if they were using crappy bulbs.

The rear deflector LED replacement lights came with 360 degree bulbs (i.e. LEDs around the base in addition to LEDs on the end). They have a photo on that page that shows a more modern bulb. However, the bulb that I received has a bit different design (load resistor built-in?) than the one depicted on the product page. I'm fine with that as the light output is the same as my brake light and is clearly visible in direct sunlight.

Ken, from Taillight Solutions, told me he uses VLED bulbs primarily. The VLED bulbs were out of stock when I ordered so his alternate vendor is Autolumination. Here is a comparison I found on YouTube from CLStech of the LED bulb on the left and stock bulb on the right. The LED bulb is a LOT brighter.

Anyone know if a taillight solution kit for a 2011 will work on a 2014?
