Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

Since Jeep_Addicted can't seem to find it in his schedule to reply to emails or PMs, has anyone here tried to make their own wire harness for this mod?

On my '14 GC there are 2 wires for the brake/ turn signal. Is it possible to just use a T splice into those 2 wires and run those down to the new housings with new sockets?

I replaced the halogen brake/ turn signal with LEDs so the splices would have to come after the resistor I'm sure.

He messaged me back about a week ago. Said he doesn't have the parts in right now to make them.

I'll be doing a test run this weekend to see if it's as simple as just tapping into the 2 wires.

I for one appreciate you making the sacrifice. Keep us posted!

The sacrifice to the Jeep gods was successful.

It is as simple as tapping into the 2 wires after the resistor taps.
This gives you a brake light and turn signal.
No hyper flashing or error messages.

Tuesday when the other housing comes in I'll put everything together.

Parts:
2 Philips 7443 red led bulbs: Amazon.com: Philips 7443 Red Vision LED Stop/Tail light (Pack of 2): Automotive

2 7443 sockets: Amazon.com: 2 Pcs T20 7443 LED Bulb Brake Signal Light Socket Harness Wire Ash Blue: Automotive

They do sell a 3 wire socket if you wanted to tap into your backup lights as well.

Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

The other housing came in today and got both lights hooked up. Didn't take a video since we've all seen what these do. LOL
I soldered and heat shrank wrapped the socket wires to the new leads.

Make sure you leave the new wires a little long in case you need to remove the tail lights.

Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

Well for anyone with an activated factory tow harness you could just buy a T-Harness for the factory tow plug and make your own harness out to each rear fog light. That would give you brake, blinker and parking lights or whatever combination you desire. Best part about this method is that all the wiring can be done from underneath without removing the taillights.

Thanks for the suggestion about making the wires long enough. I would have messed that up. lol

Sorry might be a dumb question but do you still need the load resistor? I'm thinking like your drawing power for two led bulbs instead of one halogen maybe you wouldn't need the resistor.?

Re: Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

One set of resistors is sufficient. I still have no error messages or hyper flashing.

I wanted to know if a resistor is necessary?
