The Jeep has been Nu Finished

Finally completed a hand "wax" with Nu Finish this weekend. Pretty happy with the results.

Re: The Jeep has been Nu Finished

Looks awesome TM. I used Nu Finish on my boat last year and couldnít believe how well it brought back the shine to the Gel coat. I figured it was past the point of no return.

I seem to recall that the instructions mention that you apply it in direct sunlight. That's a big bonus.

I've been inspired. Think Iíll set aside some time and do mine this weekend. I typically do it in sections. Hood and fenders and maybe the front doors one day and the side panels and rear hatch the next. Simply too much for one day.

Just canít beat the results of a hand waxed car.

Cheers

Re: The Jeep has been Nu Finished

Thanks Gravity!

My dad always used Nu Finish so that's how I learned to hand "wax" a car. I put wax in parenthesis b/c technically it's a polish and not a wax. None of that matters to me though as I'm just looking to restore some shine and add some protection.

The directions don't say anything about direct sunlight, but I believe the commercials say that you can "even apply it in direct sunlight." I'm sure it can be done, but I still did mine in the shade of the garage. All in all it took me about 2 hours including the wheels. The toughest parts are the roof and trying to avoid getting it on the plastic. Although the newer plastic, or perhaps a newer formula of nu finish, doesn't seem to get stained white like it used to.

Re: The Jeep has been Nu Finished

Avoiding the plastic is a pain. Once it's on there....

Did you use a power polisher to remove it or good old fashioned elbow grease?

I'm sure you dad would say "power polisher? hell no

I have one and it works well but your constantly changing those darn cloth deals.

Good old fashioned elbow grease. No power polisher for me. 😀

Haha. It's the only way I know how to do it. It's actually a very simple process. I just apply it with a damp sponge and then go back and wipe it right off with a soft cloth. It really only takes a couple hours.

Re: The Jeep has been Nu Finished

Thats not polishing..thats just adding a topcoat/sealant. Polishing does require a machine.

This is after a polish with meguiers m205 and then 4 coats of optimum glosscoat ceramic coating
