I don't have any great pics but here are a couple of mine with 35%. I've always had 20% in the past but decided to play it safe this time. It takes some getting used to but I'm happy with it. I also have the graystone interior, it may look darker with a black interior.
It's not that bad. It was very sunny when I took those pictures. Although, 20% would match and I would have preferred it, I went with the max legal limit in my state.
Go with 20% if you want your fronts to match OEM tint perfectly, and for best look. If you want a little lighter shade, or live in a state where they are very strict with tint laws go with 35%.
I have 20% on my Overland and would not have it any other way. Looks amazing inside and out!!
I posted some pics, and I basically dropped it off at the tinting place and told him I wanted it to exactly match the back windows...he told he that he couldn't say EXACT, because the factory paints the glass that color....(not sure how true that is) but anyway, I never was told was % he used... it's not exact but very close and I'm very happy with it.
Also, he used a different technique...it's baked on tint. It was pretty awesome, only took about an hour and a half and I could roll my windows down the same day. Unlike usuall where you have to wait 2 days or so before you can roll down your windows.
I just had mine tinted 20% last week. Pretty exact match front to back which I prefer over having lighter tint in the front but I guess that's personal preference...
35% on front door glass, legal in Wash. State. , along with 20% for sun strip on windshield. staying legal. However I had the shop do 5% limo over the rear quarter glass in very back, this blacked out the storage area nicely. worked great.
I just got mine tinted as well, but I was told the tint does not give you UV protection. there is a different application for UV, that will truly keep the Sun and the heat out. I don't have any experience nor knowledge on this. does anybody here know anyting about doing a UV protection for the window?
My window tint from Huper Optik blocks 99% of the UV rays. I wanted to be sure I was doing all I could to protect that nice New Saddle interior.
To the best of my knowledge most auto window tints do block UV rays, though. Did the installer tell you this or someone else? I'd look online at the tint manufacturer's website and see the specs they post.
I don't know of a tool or test for UV penetration. But you should be able to pull this information from the vendor's website.
FWIW, I've got 20% on my fronts and wish that I had the guts to do 35% on the windshield. But I think that would make me a bit too well-known by the local traffic enforcers.
