thule rack system installation. help?

hey everyone. i got the 460r feet with the 47" aeroblades and i must be either blind or just plain old stupid cause the instructions don't give me any measurements. am i supposed to just strap them up there? the only measurement i know is 31.5" from the center of each bar. anyone who has this setup some numbers would be helpful. such as how far from the front of the rails does the first set up go on. i'm assuming 1 -2 inches? also the number you have it set at underneath the blade where the feet connect with the blade.

any help would be great.

also got the 92726 rack for the top. but i don't need help with that one. the only question i got about that is does it need to be centered? i attempted to put on one with utter failure, from getting tired going back and forth from one side to the other, i figured i'd try and just use the rack. haha realized i'm just too damn short. coming at 5'7", i just laughed at myself saying damn i'm just tooo damn short to use this thing. there goes not stepping inside of the car to use the rack. the sliding option on the rack is great. but still gotta step inside to lock and unlock. lol

Re: thule rack system installation. help?

A small, folding step stool can come in real handy. I built one to use in my shop, but use it all the time when putting things up top. In fact I used it today to wash the roof.

Re: thule rack system installation. help?

One that folds flat is easy to leave in the back. If I go kayaking, or run out to pick up some lumber, the step stool goes with me. It's much easier than trying to stand half in the vehicle while trying to tie something on the roof.

This step works for me. It even stores under the "floor" in the cargo area (over the spare).

Re: thule rack system installation. help?

I usually just step on the rear tire to deal with stuff up there. You can also get some rock rails or tube steps to help with things on the roof.
