thule rack system question

hi everyone. had a question about this. i got the arb47 with the 460r feet and after having put it on my gc i noticed that there isn't alot of space fromt he front end to the back end of the rack. i'm 5'7" and i got a board thats a 153 and the stance is normal and i can barely get my bindings to fit between the racks. was wondering if anyone noticed this? i tried to extend the distance between the racks more but no can do.

Re: thule rack system question

Yup - I have Thule feet/rails and wish the jeep rails were longer. I think it's a standard length to accomodate moon/sun roofs.

Re: thule rack system question

thanks for the response. at first i was like wth this is short!! did i buy the wrong stuff? ooo man that sucks. how have you handled this? the only thing i came up with was loosening the bindings to bring them in closer. i did think i'd try and not stack it so both bindings are inbetween the racks but that doesn't feel too safe to do.

also do you get the whistling sound around 30-40mph? and then nothing when you're on the highway?

The WK2, roof racks and aerodynamics don't go well together. I have never had a vehicle where the addition of a roof rack created so much noise and turbulence. I recently added a Thule fairing and it got rid of 90% of the wind noise and 100% of the whistling. Only problem is the sunroof is unusable with the fairing.

Re: thule rack system question

ahh well i guess i'm lucky? i can deal with the wind noise. it isn't so bad. and the whistling is very light, nothing music can't cover up. but its only when i'm going 30-40mph. though that was weird. as for the sunroof, the rack is only going up during the winter for weekly trips to the mountain. after that its coming back down till the next season. unless i use it for fishing

Have ski racks up there? Maybe that was my problem.

Regardless, not a problem now with the fairing.
