Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

I haven't seen that option in the users manual. Can I ask why though? Sometimes 3 even seems too long, that would be a mighty slow lange change to need 5 blinks.

The point of the signal is to let your intention be known. Hence five blinks would allow you to signal ahead of time and then complete your lane change.

3 blinks is ok IF you want to make a lane change with Very few people on the road, 1st your inetnsion 2nd 1/3 in the lane change 3rd 2/3rds in the selected lane, all with in 3-4 sec. But it just seems to short for higher traffic areas. IMO
plus it give the person in the other lane time to react to me cutting them off (JUST KIDDING)

Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

I also wish I could increase the number of blinks.

When I owned my touareg I used VCDS (ross-tech) to do this.

I was told by a jeep tech that mopar used to allow certain coding mods but then changed to the accesory coding system which made it hard to do these same simple changes

Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

3 blinks is to short. They should allow 5 blinks. Oh well, I drove a new 2014 S Class last week and of course it only had the same 3 blinks from the factory. I asked the service department if it could be changed to 5 blinks. They said they could program it for any amount of blinks a customer would like for a lane change. Of course those things cost at least double what most WK2's go for.

Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

You could always tap twice for 6 blinks.

Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

i think 5 would have been perfect. I feel with the 3 blinks, you have to already start the lane change when you hit the indicator, otherwise your still mostly in the lane as the 3 blink is at its end. I've noticed this has been the setting on Chrysler vehicles for awhile now though. My parents have a 2005 300 that has the 3 blinks and we rented a Charger in 09 that was set at 3 as well.

Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

It's set at 3 by virtually all manufacturers as that is all that is needed. There is no point to your blinker still flashing after you have already moved into the other lane. My lane changes are completed in two flashes.

Re: turn signal tap for three blink extended to 5

If you want more blinks, just put it fully on, and turn off after you've completed your maneuver. I know everyone wants everything to be automatic, functioning the way they would like, but that's asking a lot of the manufacturer. The control is at your fingertips.
