Angry V3 Triton problems!

I can not get the taillight to go back in due to all the extra cord, connectors, resistor, and control box that the V3 Triton comes with, there just is not enough room.

How did you guys make yours fit? I attached a pic from someone else, however what is not shown in that pic is the large black resistor that comes with the 2.5 kit and the circular housing that originally had the bulb in it where the V3 harness connects to the cars tail light socket.

Any help is appreciated!

Regards,

Chris

Re: V3 Triton problems!

Well the latest V3's the resistor is relatively compact is is mostly flat. The resistor along with the connectors all get pushed down behind the bumper. When the lamp is out there is a gap between the body and the bumper. Mount the resistor on a flat surface in there (you will see the plat painted surface I'm speaking of when you look in there. Then once all the connections are made push the connectors and most of the wiring in there. Once you do that the assembly pushes back in perfectly. Hope this helps, let us know if you need anything else. Love my V3's!!

Re: V3 Triton problems!

Yeah, the bulk of the wiring actually gets pushed down behind the bumper. It can be a little tricky, especially considering I had difficulty with the two-sided tape sticking to the taillight housing so the controller kept falling out of place.

While there is plenty of room behind the rear bumper, there ISN'T a whole lot of room to push everything behind it. There is a screw on each side of the bumper that can be removed to give a bit more wiggle room; it provided the extra space I needed to push the original headlight housing and the resister in without fear of breaking anything.

Re: V3 Triton problems!

^^ What he said. Remove the screw on the bumper and that will give the bumper a little extra play to get stuff back there.

GJBenn,
I also had issues of the controllers falling off the lamp housings. I finally found a way that isn't permanent, but has not let them fall of yet. I used good double sided tape, then outlined the box using my hot glue gun. I like hot glue guns because it holds well, but can be peeled right off if you want to remove it. Could try that if you want to mess around with them some.

Re: V3 Triton problems!

Same thing here, remove the Torx screw and push down behind bumper.

Re: V3 Triton problems!

That was a pain! I had to remove the torx too, even at that I felt I was bending that bumper pretty good. Its all done now and they look great! Thanks for the help guys.
