Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

I agree, what you have here is absolutely great! I have no issue tracing power and wiring. where I am having a problem is getting that dang console off. I've put a lot of downward pressure on it to pop the snaps, but I'm at a point where I am afraid the plastic is going to snap. Is there a trick to getting this thing loose, like where to start, any tool? Any insights would be appreciated.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

Bringing this back from the dead to say I just did this install on my 2014 and the yellow and blue wire I taped into does not turn off with the ignition. I have to turn it on and off each time which sucks. If anyone knows what wire in the overhead console will turn on and off with the ignition that would be a great help.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

For my V1 installation, I purchased the Valentine One "Savvy" module which just plugs into the OBD port down in the drivers side footwell to give you extremely easy automatically switched power. Just plug & play with no muss, no fuss. Use a 10 foot phone cord you'll have plenty of length to run the cord up along the windshield pillar and to the top center of the windshield. Works perfectly. The Savvy module also provides the benefit of eliminating those annoying false alarms caused by radar operated doors when you're going at slower speeds. Check it out on the V1 website.

Cheers,

Dave

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

I don't think its worth the $70. It is a neat option though.

I just wired my Escory 9500ix

There is no switched 12v on the console connector.
But there is going down to the mirror.

It's pink and another color striped.

You have to take covers off mirror.

Wire is up in console area but it's hard to reach, so I ran it up from the mirror.
There is a thtead that talks about finding the same wire I did.

I took mirror down by accident, forget if it was necessary, but it's tricky to put back up.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Whistler XTR-265

I performed the initial wiring into the overhead console using the yellow with blue striped wire, but it appears there is not enough voltage to run my detector. I swapped the power to the red B+ power wire and it worked fine for me.

I see a bunch of posts about it not being a switched power setup, but I remembered from my previous Jeep that the overhead console lights would be turned off after about 8 minutes if I left them on. I decided to try the same thing with the detector and sure enough after a short time the system turned the power off sensing a power drain. I do have to turn the detector off and back on again to reset the system if it turns it off but that is an easy win with no battery drain.

I'm comfortable enough with this setup that if I forget and leave the detector on I won't come back to a dead battery in the morning. It's been weeks and no problem, and yes I do forget to turn it off all the time.
