Vinyl wrapped front grill?

I'm not a fan of the chrome front grill on my 2012 JGC, but I'm hesitant to paint the it because I don't want it to chip from being hit rocks and road debris. I was wondering if any of you have wrapped your grill in black vinyl or even with the lamin-x tail light tint film.

I'm also debating on whether or not I want to pay the $400+ for the Altitude grill

Thanks in advance

Re: Vinyl wrapped front grill?

The Altitude grille is painted. I doubt vinyl will stand up to rock chips/bug guts any better than paint. I also think it would be difficult to get around all the curves, etc. Lamin-x would be thick, and it's also transparent. That may give it somewhat of a black-chrome look. It would also be difficult to apply.

That looks great! Did you paint or use plasti-dip?

Doesn't plasti-dip bubble/peel/chip even sooner than paint?

Definitely not. Very durable, and extremely easy to remove should you decide to re-do or remove it.

Its good protection from rocks, bugs, etc... And it looks sweet!

Its Plastidip. No real issues at all in my experience. If its done correctly there will not be any problems.
