Vinyl Wrapped: Rear Brow & Window Surround

Finally got my rear chrome brow & window surround wrapped. I am so happy with the way it turned out!

Re: Vinyl Wrapped: Rear Brow & Window Surround

Forgot to add it was 3M Gloss Dragon Fire Red for the rear brow & 3M standard Gloss black for the sides.

I like it. Very different. Makes the tailights look like one panel. Good work.

I appreciate that. I originally wanted to fiberglass it and make a complete new one that was clear then have it painted that gloss but sh!t, this was much cheaper with the same outcome. I liked the full back red look of the Durango's so I wanted to have my Jeep have that same 'look'. Thx again!

The trim looks good but the brow looks out of place. It may look better if the front grille was also red.

Thank you for your honesty! The (front) grille isn't red, just the plain chrome. It's not a trailhawk edition so I don't have anything else red, but I wanted to make it similar to the Dodge Durango's. At a glance, or from a distance, it's dead on, but I can see what you mean "out of place" if you stare at it to long as its not the same glare of red.

Kinda reminds me of a Durango now. I like the window trim!

Re: Vinyl Wrapped: Rear Brow & Window Surround

Any tips on that window trim? I've been wanting to do the same thing, but can't seem to find anything on it. Everything I find is a place trying to sell their services to do it. I'm perfectly capable of doing it. I do my own tint, I do hydrodip, I've done stripes and decals, so I know I can trim a window. Just trying to figure out what people are using. Was it a big sheet that you trimmed a "C" out of, or was it a thin strip similar to pinstripe material, that you followed the curve with?

Re: Vinyl Wrapped: Rear Brow & Window Surround

I think the look ur going for is good. I have tinted tails but not fully so u se a lil red, i might be able to use similar as you, red vinyl base then a tint vinyl and it might get that look... Thanks for the food for thought

I had a vinyl shop do it for me. They did it in sections. Each part of the OE window surround have sections. Each section was done, including the "C". It was just heated and stretched. I am sure you can by the material online. Hope this helps for you. Good luck with your project.

I made templates for mine. I cut a little c shaped sections for the area under the mirrors and the sharp curve around the cargo area windows. For the rest of it, I pretty much cut straight strips of vinyl and stretched and heated it to fit the softer curves. It was my first vinyl project and came out great. Watched a few videos first before I did it. Make sure to clean area and have sharpe razors on hand. Good luck.
