Re: Weathertech window deflectors

For you folks that installed these yourself... Got any install tips?

Ive read the directions and it seems like they are supposed to go between the rubber and door edge but I cant seem to get them in. Of course it started raining on me while I was trying so I had to stop.

Any installation info would be appreciated

*EDIT*
Based on some youtube videos it looks like they only go into the rubber channel and not between the rubber and door edge.

Re: Weathertech window deflectors

Can anybody tell me if I installed these correctly on my 2014 Grand Cherokee? They are the weathertech wind deflectors that go inside the window frame. I want to make sure I have them in the right spot, I attached pictures to make it easier to look at. Thanks

Re: Weathertech window deflectors

According to the instructions the bottom edge should rest on the chrome and not in between the chrome and the rubber like you have it. Does the window go up or does it bind and automatically go back down?

Re: Weathertech window deflectors

I have these, the in-channel version. I ran a small bead of black silicone caulk between the visor and the chrome window trim to a. make it stay stuck in place forever and b. eliminate what I thought was an unsightly gap there. Just make sure its a small bead to keep from making a mess. I did screw up one window and it wasn't a smooth bead like I wanted....so I wiped it all off with Goof Off and started over. Leave the windows closed for a couple of days until the caulk cures fully.

Re: Weathertech window deflectors

I chose not to put them on my JGC for two reasons. The first is that I likely would never use the benefit...I prefer the quiet of closed windows regardless of the weather. The second reason is that I didn't enjoy the extra wind noise they caused on my previous vehicle.

Re: Weathertech window deflectors

I find them very helpful in the summer.....my car sits out, and, for work I have to get in the hot parked car several times a day during the work week. I also pull my boat to the lake most weekends so the GC is sitting in the sun waiting.....but sudden thunderstorms are common in the south in the summer. Being able to leave the windows cracked makes a drastic difference in heat build up, without being worried about rain. No one else in my house likes them so none of our other cars have them! But I love 'em.
