Re: What bulb is in the WK2 fog light?

I just finished installing these and there are no extra bits to trim off.
They fit just fine right out of the box....took a little coaxing to get them in but they went.
HPX H16 (5202, 9009) High Power White LED bulb Twin Pack (2 bulbs) Part # H16HPLEDW

Slightly bluer tint than the headlights......I plan to upgrade the low beams to some 6000k bulbs.

Re: What bulb is in the WK2 fog light?

I've found LED lamps in the fogs do not align properly with the reflector's geometry resulting in a diffused beam rather than the low flat wide beam that fogs are supposed to have. Being diffused, the beam is also weaker even though they look brighter from the outside. That turned me off them. However, if it's bling you are after, they certainly do that.

Haven't seen the light pattern at night yet but I was just trying to match the headlights......fogs serve no real purpose anyways. Your headlights will always put shine the fogs and you'll never drive with just the fogs on.

Re: What bulb is in the WK2 fog light?

The OEM bulbs have a pattern shaping lens built in, where the replacement LEDs do not. The OEM pattern is not all that effective, the LED pattern is less so. Thats why most say they are for entertainment purposes only.

The PSX24WHPLEDW bulbs fit without coaxing. Have the same LEDs as the H16s which can be made to work with a big enough hammer Just saying, why bother when there is a direct fit bulb replacement? Too late for you, but others here may want to use the right bulbs now that they are available.

In another thread there was a discussion about color temperature. There was suppose to be be a closer temperature bulb out by now, but I may have missed it.

Re: What bulb is in the WK2 fog light?

Maybe what I said didn't come thru very well.....these were direct replacements....it's just the locking mechanism is tight.....just have to snap it in. I've never used the other bulbs so maybe they fit better??

Re: What bulb is in the WK2 fog light?

Today I installed LED fog, reverse lights and the license plate bulbs......I'm hooked, it looks so much better. I'll be ordering some interior bulbs in a few mins.

No the H16s are not direct replacements for the OEM PSX24Ws, but many have made them work one way or another. For a long time H16s were the only LED style fog bulbs available that you could make work in the WK2 (and some camaros). The two bulbs have different keying in the base connector as you are not suppose to use a H16 in a PSX24 application as the 24 has a beam forming lens where the H16s do not.
