Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

With a rating of 2500 lumens/bulb, that is bright. Comparatively, OSRAM "Night breaker unlimited" bulbs rated at ~ 1850 luminous flux/bulb.

A 55watt halogen bulb rates at ~1500 lumens.

Although, check this, LUXEON MZ | Philips Lumileds Lighting Company.

Wondering if you Orderd these and how they worked for you. I had a set of United auto accessories u3 3600lm led bulbs put in my 15 altitude headlights and the local shop couldn't get the riverside to work properly. It would work sometimes then other times when u would turn the lights on it would flash a couple times and go out. Tried different bulb, harness, canbuss and had the same problem so had to have them taken out. Anyone know what would cause this?

Too much draw on the circuit. The bulbs flashing & going out is trying to tell you something . . .

What would cause that and how would I fix it try a different brand of bulbs? Would it make sense that the passenger side bulb worked flawlessly

The wiring itself could be weak or the relay, itself. Or, you could have a bad ground or weak connection with the bulb, itself. The brighter bulbs could be a higher wattage rating & some vehicle electrical systems aren't happy with that! Going with an HID set-up might be better for you because those ballasts do not over load the electrical system, the bulbs are waaaay brighter, and they also run at a lower wattage.

Hey Guys,

We've got a couple of sets out to JG members to try out in the headlights. I'm not concerned about you guys liking the light output and/or beam pattern. I'm more concerned about whether an error code will be thrown as they only draw 20W.

Steve

Thanks for your kind words.

FYI: Forum member @Wolfz23 currently has them in his hands, and is doing his best to get them installed for you guys.

Steve,
I am concerned about the beam pattern with these new units you offer.

There was another forum member who had some LED 'bulbs' in his halogen reflector headlights (not yours) and he had to adjust the level and even then he stated that he was being flashed the high beams from other drivers so he pulled them and put halogen bulbs back in.

Any chance of getting someone to take 'before' and 'after' pics of the beam pattern projected onto a white surface (such as a garage door)?

I'm OK with having to adjust the beam up/down, but if the LEDs cause too much glare to oncoming drivers (because they aren't positioned properly into the focal center of the headlight) then I wouldn't consider them.

Thanks.

Thats precisely what forum member @Wolfz23 is going to do.

Here is a review of the H11 LED headlight kit installed in a Honda Accord (also H11 low beam projector):
