Dabitz - no, i've had 2015 customers install the kit.

Steve,

I installed the lights in an 08 wk and there is only one issue when the light are on when the car is running and you turn them off they will not go out fully they go very dim and flicker a little bit the entire time the car is on. If you do the same when the car is off the lights go dim and flicker a bit but go out after a few seconds. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi,

I would look at getting a relay harness:

HID Kit Wire Harness

I know a relay harness should help with the flicker but do you think it will help with them staying on while the car is running?

Interested to know this as well and since I have a Canadian model will I run into any problems since my low beam also serves as daytime running lights?

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

yes, i did. i posted about 30 pictures of it as well. the LED will go right in no problem, and the "dust cap" which is really a water/moister cap, went back on easily.

Was plug and play, evertyhing fit inside the headlight assembly, under the cap no problems.
2014 grand cherokee limited, no cancelers needed.
look for my threed LED with pictures.

In your Thread, you removed the bumper. is this necessary just for the low beams install? I was hoping I could just go through the access ports.

Thanks

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

As the OP of this thread, it is cool to see how things have evolved in the past year with LED lighting. The fan version of my lights are still doing fine...but the idea of the fan running still doesn't sit well with me. I suppose it is not much different than a PC fan running, but still...

I really like the look and design of the Xenon Depot lights so I ordered them up so I can see how they compare to the fan version that I have been running for about a year.

I have to go out of town for a week, but when I get back I will install one and see how it looks, do temp readings, etc. like I did the previous tests.

BTW...for those doing a headlight swap, there is an easy way to do it. You do not need to remove the entire front bumper to change the headlight bulbs!

I posted this before but here is it again but with more clarification. I am going by memory here...I will be doing it again in the near future so if there are clarifications I need to make, let me know.

You need a small Phillips screwdriver, a body panel remover tool (although a flat screwdriver will do in a pinch) and a 10mm socket. It also helps a ton if you have a forehead mounted flashlight. You will likely need both hands to work.
  1. Turn the front wheel all the way to one side or the other to give you room to work when you do this. I believe if you are working on the driver side, turn it all the way to the right, and all the way to the left when working on the passenger side.
  2. Unfasten the front half of inner fabric splash guard screws and bolts (and one twist-lock fastener).
  3. Gently bend the splash guard back. It is flexible enough to not do any damage when bending it. I used the tread of the front tire to hold it in place.
  4. Lay down under the front bumper and you can reach all the way up to behind the headlight.
  5. Remove and replace as needed.

Trust me, it will be MUCH easier that trying to use the useless little port hole and only takes a few minutes.

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

So here's an update...later than I wanted it to be but anyway...

As mentioned above, I bought the Xenon Depot headlights with the copper mesh. I installed one in the passenger side and drove around for a couple of nights. I saw no significant difference between the fan version I have been running and the

My gut wants to say that the Xenon Depot light is a touch brighter...it is certainly not dimmer.

One thing I did notice is that there is a slight "hotspot" with the XD bulb. I don't know if it is because the fan version had a chrome reflector or set in the headlight capsule deeper or shallower or what. However, as long as you are not 10 feet away from a wall, you really do not notice the ever so slight spot in the light pattern except for a slightly brighter crescent shape on the road surface with the foglights off. Not a huge deal, you don't really notice it, and IMO, not a deal breaker...especially considering the following...

So before I could even install the driver side, my fan version died. The fan still works, but the LED element simply doesn't ignite. I think they did very well over the past couple of years, including a very very brutal winter. But...dead is dead. It is is dead.

Perfect time for me to put the Xenon Depot bulb in the driver side, which I did. Then I drove up north Michigan for the 4th of July (side note...it was to take the first trail ride in my Suzuki Samurai project, see sig). The Xenon Depot bulbs performed perfectly, and honestly, I feel better knowing that there is no fan that will fail. The overall quality is obviously better and the copper mesh is a pretty cool design, literally. *Snicker-snort*

I have dealt with Xenon Depot with my JWSpeaker fog light bulbs and now with their headlight bulbs. Both times were excellent experiences. I like the quality of their headlight bulbs and I like their service. After all this trial and error, the Xenon Depot bulbs are the way to go.

Feel free to ask any questions.

OK, so I have some gifts coming my way and wanted your expert opinion (don't be shy you're a full lighting expert). I have a laredo (2013) like you and wanted to know what you would suggest for fogs and Headlights.

I attached some pics (proud papa) of her as she stands now bc, why not.

Let me know you're feelings on what I should throw in her as far as lighting goes..
