Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

I don't know how much of an "expert" I am, I just research the hell out of things. Without a doubt, I am very very happy with the combination of JWSpeaker driving lights and the XD headlight bulbs. The JW driving lights are very very pricey, but they are well worth it. You can get both from XD. Tell them I sent you.

BTW...I don't call them "fog lights" in this instance because you will find they are nearly as bright and useful as headlights. They are excellent for driving. I think they have a new version for Jeeps that doesn't require any splicing. Check with XD before you order, they are awesome to work with.

Thanks b. Will definitely reach out to them this week and place my order. If need be, are you available for a talk on for installation of the jw's?

Sure, if you need help I can do my best, but I recall it was a pretty straightforward install. Hit me up if you need help.

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

I just realized, I already made a how-to. This might be all that you need...
2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

You may not even need to go through teh splicing part if there is a new one with the correct Jeep connector alreay installed. Let me know what XD says.

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

I came up with this thread and though I didn't go through all 17 pages it has just wanted to let anyone interested in knowing that I installed on my 2015 Overland an LED conversion kit for my fog lights and they are actually pretty awesome, each bulb has 3,500 lumens which is about the same output and HID conversion kit gives out. The kit I got is the OPT7 LED conversion kit for H11 bulbs, found them on Amazon for $99 dollars, it comes prepared to work with our Jeeps which use can bus yo prevent from flickering, going off and on or giving light bulb errors on the dash board. So that's that I had posted pictures on another thread I had made but just in case I'll leave pics to give you guys an idea of how it looks. In the pics I'm posting here the light you see is JUST the fog lights on

Oooooold bump.

Wondering if anyone who installed these LED low-beams still uses them. Some members like Viper don't look like they've posted in a long time.

For those that do (if anyone responds) - do the LED low-beams not point as far as Halogen low beams?

Thanks for the reply.

Just to be certain, you bought the H11 bulbs to use as your low-beams correct? And you have the JW as your fogs. Did you do anything to the high beams?

For the low-beams, did you notice any difference in how far your light shined ahead? From the reading I've done, many responses were that LEDs were a suitable replacement for fog lights, but just didn't have the distance of Halogens or HID's.

I used fanless LEDs from V-LEDs and experienced flicker also.

I ordered these:
MORIMOTO H11 STANDALONE CAN-BUS ADAPTER | 1 PAIR

Plug-n-play. No more flicker for quite some time now.

Yes, I used the XenonDepot bulbs as low-beams. Left the high-beams as stock because I don't often use them and I am dealer for LED light bars mysrlf and I am installing one of those.

I myself think they shine quite a good distance, I especially noticed that I see street signs reflecting from a greater distance than before.

Thanks again for the replies. Just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. When I first purchased my Altitude (Halogens), and drove it in the dark in the mountains here in CO... It was a white-knuckle experience coming from my Audi with HID's. I could not see anywhere near the amount of road ahead with the Jeep as I did with the Audi. I just want to make sure these LED's aren't worse than the stock Halogens, or it could become dangerous driving at night in the mountains.

I read about Halogens traveling further than LED's from a link somewhere, where a guy focused his lights against a fence / wall at a certain distance. The halogens lit up the wall better than the LED's did. Not sure what brand LEDs they were, and I can't seem to find the link now.

Here is a link XenonDepot provided, where a guy put the LED kits in his Honda Accord. He states that the LEDs provide as much or better visibility. H11 LED Headlight Review | 9005 LED kit Review
