Raptor Rage,

Looks good.
Did your set have the existing H11 connectors or did you have to piecemeal like silvermax04?

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

ok so i got a better H11 connector and put these LEDs in. So far so good i have not driven with them yet but they turn on and function fine. No extra junk hanging off the wires just plug them in everything is built in. Color is not an exact match to the HID headlights but not that far off they have a slight slight blue shade but not much and not obnoxious definitely better than the yellow halogens. They do seem to throw a decent amount of light and it does keep its pattern together fairly well a little more spreading but not much more than the halogen. Maintains the sharp cut off on the top so should not glare other drivers. If i had to estimate i would say they throw slightly more light then the halogens but not a lot more. if i remember right the stock halogens are rated around 1300lm or something like that. these are rated the 2400lm. so to me they do not seem to throw twice as much light but they do seem to throw a little more than the halogens but again that is just my estimate.
Top left pic is LED fogs and headlights turned on
Top right pic is one led fog and one halogen silverstar ultra fog on
Bottom left pic is the led fog installed and with halo on
Bottom right pic is led, headlight and halo on

The fanless heat sinks are fairly massive and i was worried they may not fit in the surrounding socket area for some reason but no issues plenty of room up there.
i will report back once i have driven around on them a little bit because to early to judge completely but so far so good i think they will make the goal of getting rid of the yellow halogen color and also having at least as much usable light, no fans and not a brunch of ballasts and warts and junk hanging off the wires.
These are in a summit so fogs are a little smaller than the others but i would guess results should be similar in the other models.

Well, I didn't see the obvious that you were going to use this for fog replacements. I swapped out my halogen fogs for JW Speaker Leds some time ago.

I wanted these LEDs for headlight replacements as I don't have the HID headlights....Laredo X 5.7L.

Going to order some and try them out for headlights and will report back.

Would've been nice if JW speaker did headlights for our trucks.

yeah I didn't want to mess with the stock HID. if your are swapping headlights and fogs you could get a good match with 4 of them lol. They do seem to throw a decent amount of light but you would probably have to judge for yourself if it was enough to replace a headlight. They are marketed as a headlight replacement so we have gotten to the point that LEDs are for that so maybe give it a try. I added the picture in of the box I actually got above. there are a few different variations of it being pushed around but may are overseas delivery, these were US so shipping was quick. Good luck

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

Well.. Finally got round to driving at night!

The beam is very wide and puts out good light with a nice even beam.. Foreground lighting is very impressive FOR A LED replacement bulb.. However down the road visibility is not as good.

Led replacement technology has come a long way in a short time, and I think before you know it, these LED bulbs will be just as good as a hid system. It performs better than my standard halogen bulbs, which are really bad in the Prius anyway. Here are some pics.

Overall they are Ok, not as good as hid, but slight better than standard bulbs.
Pros: light Colour, low energy consumption, beam width, and foreground lighting
Cons: beam not intense enough, short down the road visibility, and can cause a eye fatigue..

Would I use as a full headlight:
Yes, however if I did a lot of driving on dark road, answer is No!

Overall they are Ok, not as good as hid, but slight better than standard bulbs.

I agree they are not as good as HID but they are better than halogen.

"short down the road visibility"....
You know, I've read that on other forums, even with the first generation.

I'm starting to think that it just isn't the case.
Your pics show much more light output than the halogen bulb.
Light is light...
If the LED is putting out more light, then it's also going to give more "throw" of light down the road.

I believe it's a perception thing.
You see more 'white' light on the road in front of you and it seems to 'taper' off quicker than the halogen bulbs, but the bulbs are still 'throwing' more light down the road, it's just not concentrated on the road.

I see a similar effect with my JW Speaker LED fogs. They put out a LOT of light right in front of the Jeep, but don't seem to 'throw' as much light as some other halogen fog lights, until you notice on a bump that they just lit up a street sign that is a long distance down the road.

If I had the $$$ to drop on a pair, I would probably try them, but being a new boat owner that is where I'm sinking my spare change for now.

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

I ended up buying some, but I haven't been able to install them.

I hope to get to it this weekend or next.

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

Company I ordered from sent me 9005 (high beam) instead of H11. So I slapped them in and was very happy with results vs halogen bulbs.

H11s were ordered and on the way. Hopefully installed by end of next week.

ok so I am changing my opinion on keeping these. the light output is good and better than the halogen but not as good as HID. The problem I have decided is the color. at 6000k they just have too much blue in them to use as fogs next to the stock hid headlights. makes the headlights look yellow because they are at 4300k. yes you could change your headlights to 6000k to match them but decided I didn't want to do that. so yes the light out is good but would be better if they were a 4300-5000k to match the stock hid. anyway its good to know led plug and play technology has got to the point that light out is better than halogen without the fans. im sure a variety of these type will be out before long.

Exactly my opinion of these.. They are just too blue.. Would prefer if the colour temp was lower, and visibility is not that great.. Causes eye fatigue too...
