Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

Purchased on Ebay.....do a search for....

Hid Replace Waterproof Integrated LED Headlight Lamp Conversion Kit H11 H8 H9 6K

You will have to order separately an H11 connector so you can connect to stock. I did some soldering and make connections. No problems since installing them middle of June.

I don't have the LED DRLs, my DRL is the headlight, if you have the same or do you know if the DRLs have to be disabled to use these lamps or they are good to go?

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

I have a 2013 Laredo x....no Hid, no DRL. I have separates for high and low beam halogens.

Replaced both high and low beam halogens with the LEDs. Simple install. Just remove air filter compartment on driver side and work around the coolant reservoir on passenger side.

No need to remove front end or go in through the wheel wells.

So how are they working for you?
Did you go with the fan-less version?

I picked these up, just in case I want to switch to the fanless version.

So you're saying you can order a H11 connector instead of soldering, or you need to do both?

Re: What's the verdict on LED headlight bulbs vs. HID?

You have to do both. You snip the little useless ends off the connector that came with the light, and you solder the new plug onto it. That way, it is a s strong and watertight connection to the vehicle harness.

Soldering is easy.

...Head over to your local Harbor Freight or whatever hardware store and get a basic soldering iron and some soldering wire. Then watch this video:

See? Super easy and almost kinda fun. Even though we live in a predominantly "plug and play" world these days, having this skill and equipment around the house and garage can come in handy. No heat gun for the heat shrink tubing? Use a hair dryer (but Harbor Freight has a good heat gun for cheap as well).
I can assure you, this is a much better way to go than just twisting the wires together and wrapping with electrical tape. That will eventually fail on you. Soldering is the right way to go.
